Rankandfile Posted April 29, 2021 Posted April 29, 2021 Hello, first time posting here, just got the game a few weeks ago and am having a great time! I do have a question about the P-47 career: Maybe I'm just not very good, but has anybody managed to survive the P-47 Bodenplatte career past day 10? Any flight in which we encounter air patrols we lose at least one plane, the mission I just finished we lost the entire flight, with me barely surviving, wounded and crash landed! Not once have we had any fighter cover designated to us either. Morale is so low I might just turn right back around and land next flight. Be better to survive in the brig than go up and die! Seeing the new pilot arrivals screen is kinda entertaining though, and the next mission of the day was mercifully canceled. I guess somebody put soap in the chow, or snuck into the ops tent and moved the bomb line... As far as constructive criticism goes: AI flight lead might be a bit more inclined to ditch our bombs and engage (Giving the player the option to order the wing to dump ordinance would help too) When we have no cover, spotting fighters closing, the AI should probably engage early rather than when under fire Enroute, higher altitude waypoints might give the P-47 some chance If we are going to bomb the same rail station for the tenth time, maybe its time to concede that we are fighter/bombers, and get some dedicated escorts All that said, I'm having a ton of fun, and keep up the good work! 3

They'll automatically drop their bombs if you do so.

I experienced it in my Me262 campaign dozens of times. Very often, my atrocious wingmen would simply start flying straight at low throttle if ordered to engage enemy fighter if our flight was in the vicinity of the primary ground target. Its like the AI understands that they must now ignore the ground targets but they fail to engage enemy aircrafts. So they fly straight at low throttle without jettisoning their bombs until shot down without performing any escape maneuvers. The fighter bomber AI often falls into comatose limbo. So expect huge wingmen casualties in me262 and P-47. 1
Knarley-Bob Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 Seems to me, in a P-47 on BOP, one is on their own. Most of the time the flight doesn't even drop their bombs except just before landing. They ARE NOT team mates by any means. Drop your ordinance and run......
PatrickAWlson Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 I have been lobbying for an AI change or option wherein the ground attack AI will fire all ordnance in one pass. If mission makers had that we could much more effectively get AI planes out of the target area. it does feel like the AAA has become more accurate, which is not terrible as long as the AI doesn't have a death wish. 1 1
Ghost666 Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 Don't be the fist to attack, I have found that if you let the AI attack first they they will drop and even, but not always, make repeated attacks. If you attack first and get the objective complete message the AI turns and runs for home, nothing left to do here. This is not the way it should be. but it works for me, until it is fixed right.
