History background: during September 1940 Mussolini sent the Corpo Aereo Italiano (literally, "Italian Air Corp") - or CAI - an expeditionary force from the Italian Regia Aeronautica (Italian Royal Air Force) in the Battle of Britain.


This CAI force operated till April 1941, during which months, some italian pilots were teached by Luftwaffe's instructors to fly the Emil (See pics below); we know, in fact, that Regia Aeronautica asked 150 BF-109E, due to the lack of quality by National productions (Fiat CR-42, G-50, C 200 and other prototypes).

 

The Fuhrer negated the sold of fighters till 1943.
