Allow external views and while you are watching the plane you want to control (with Ctrl + F2 or Shift + F2)(it must be a flyable one) hit Ctrl + F1 (I think this is the default assignment)

No, is not Ctrl+F1 , this keys is for "Wonder Woman View", or no cockpit view, the command is called "Toggle cockpit" (in Options > Controls > Keys > VIEW)

 

For get control of an AI aircraft use the keys set in Options > Controls > Keys > VIEW for "Take Control of Selected AI Aircraft".

 

To be able to get this control, in Options> Controls > Keys > Realism > Aircraft Switching  all "Cannot..." options need be unticked.

IL2: With L-shift +  F2 to your buddies, and L-Cntrl + F2 for the boogiemen. Other F-keys have other similar functions too. 

But you cannot switch player LoL. That would be a great one. Never knew that works in CloD, must try that!
