frugalmanatee80 Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 I purchased Battle of Stalingrad on steam having owned rise of flight and cliffs of dover I was very pleased to be able to play a similar game with VR capability. it had all I expected, quick Missions, missions career, and multiplayer. so I just brought flying circus and early access battle of Normandy. well to say I was disappointed would be an understatement having spent $100 + no missions in either scenario. come on IL hat a rip off. a map and a few planes for $100 is a joke.
Art-J Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 (edited) Well, unlike other PC games, the way Early Access works in this series is you pre-purchase something that doesn't exist yet and you're getting the content piece by piece as the whole thing's getting built. For the Normandy part only 3 planes are ready right now, and will get your full content and experience by this time next year or thereabouts, so don't worry, you'll get your 100 bucks worth eventually. No idea about FC though, I don't own it. Edited April 24, 2021 by Art-J
Thad Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 Please educate yourself before negatively spouting off out of ignorance. The Battle Of Normandy module is in 'early access'. The module isn't finished yet and only craft finished for it will be available and flyable by those that have pre-ordered (early access). The Normandy map is NOT finished yet. No Normandy based missions therefore. I'll let more knowledgeable pilots address Flying Circus. 1
[CPT]Crunch Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 Battle of Normandy isn't released yet, early access only gives you the aircraft early as they get finished. It would have been better to buy an already completed set of the series.
Redwo1f Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 (edited) Go to main menu - select "Scripted Campaigns" - you will see there are two for Flying Circus. Also I have 16 missions for FC, but those may be all third party/user created downloads - honestly can't remember, lol. Also there is a third party career generator for FC called Patrick Wilson Campaign Generator (PWCG). You should be able to easily find info on that in the forums. Edited April 24, 2021 by Redwo1f

I am spouting off negatively because this was not made obvious by the offer, I have msfs2020 which I purchased on its first release date. I received a playable game all be it not fully developed. if the game doesn't exist then this should be mentioned, especially as you claim it wont exist for another year. for $10 discount id rather have my money back till at least there's a map. 35 minutes ago, Redwo1f said: Go to main menu - select "Scripted Campaigns" - you will see there are two for Flying Circus. This is so . do you know where do I find the 10,000 km2 map as i don't have it in mission builder.

Should be there and available in BOSEditor - it is called "arras-spring" (don't know anything more as I don't use it personally to create missions myself. Also, have a look in Quick mission in game from the main menu to make sure the map is indeed there and selectable (Arras, Spring 1918).
atcarter714 Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 As others have explained to you, with BoN you are basically getting to test out and play a WIP (work-in-progress) version of the game prior to its official release, and probably were given the opportunity for cheaper than the full retail version is going to cost other people in the future. That being said, it's sort of a privilege you've been given there. A lot of games don't have any such program available for their enthusiasts. Just think about Grand Theft Auto 6, for example ... there's no public beta or early access available for that game, and there are literally millions of people who would kill for the opportunity to try it out even if the missions and storyline are incomplete, just so they could wander the city, drive the cars and see what the scenery is going to look like. You, on the other hand, have been blessed with the chance to do this in what I can only imagine is one of your favorite flight simulators. 1

You can always start here: and then fine-tune in the editor. Saves you a good deal of setting up the scenery and flak positions etc.
von_Tom Posted April 25, 2021 Posted April 25, 2021 These first world problems, solved with a little reading, are so tragic. von Tom 1
jollyjack Posted May 1, 2021 Posted May 1, 2021 I understand these frustrations, getting used to IL2 GB has kind of a steep learning curve; I thank especially Jim_TM for helping me out with his manual and also personally when i started with the ME. Others too BTW. After about 1.5 years now i must admit that most other games i ever bought got boring for me after a while. The IL2 crew did a wonderful job in creating this wonderful sim-game world with especially the ME. Every time you discover or even can buy something completely new. That real life like GAZ AA truck f.i. 1
No.332.Animal_NO Posted May 1, 2021 Posted May 1, 2021 I just read the store page for Normandy and I have to admit, to a new player that page does not really make it clear that most of the content is unavailable. It says "early access" and nothing else about what that entails.

Not quite as it says this at the bottom But the OP isn't the first person to post that they purchased BON only to find they didn't get the full package they expected, so if multiple people are making the same error then that suggests the sales page needs to make the point clearer. Looking on the bright side at least the OP got FC1 not the early access FC2! 1
No.332.Animal_NO Posted May 1, 2021 Posted May 1, 2021 Yes it states that you can fly the planes as they are ready, but nothing as to maps, campaigns or other content. 1
