Knarley-Bob Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 This just showed up after the last update. Doesn't seem to go any where, what's the scoop? Coming attractions?
[CPT]Crunch Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 Last update included one of the new flak trucks, those are it's scenes. Flak truck purchased separately.

Charlo-VR Posted April 25, 2021 Posted April 25, 2021 (edited) In MP now the AA fire can mistakenly fire on you if the human isn’t skilled in plane ID ? Edited April 26, 2021 by Charlo-VR

Sandmarken Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 I was shot down by a human aa truck on finish the other day. I was going to spook him with a litle strafe but he got me with a pk befor i coud open fire. It was very humiliating? 1
[APAF]VR_Spartan85 Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 With The qmb aa truck icon.. you can then select aircraft at the bottom (like the ground targets option) select all aircraft types and it will put you in the middle of chaos lol.. bombers, fighters, paratroop, everything happening last at once... it’s awesome but you run out of ammo fast 1
Mac_Messer Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 So...is human AA more or less effective? Are there mp servers offering AA slots exclusively?

I actually vaguely feel like I remember a story about that happening (Although I might be remembering the rather tragic mess that happened to the USS Liberty/AGTR-5 during the Six Day war). I do recall one incident of an annoyed Bomber Command aircraft (Lancaster or maybe a Halifax - but I think a Lanc) diving to low altitude and ordering the gunners to suppress a German anti-aircraft battery. Of course, that isn't firing on the same side - but still dramatic enough to be worth sharing I think. 4 hours ago, Mac_Messer said: So...is human AA more or less effective? That'll be interesting to see - might justify some tweaks to the anti-aircraft AI? Edited April 26, 2021 by Avimimus

I can sympathize with the AAA gunners. When 9 planes out of 10 that you see are the other side, shooting at everything becomes second nature. Even allied gunners had itchy trigger fingers and they didn't have that excuse. One of them killed Preddy. 1

Yep, and at least two US aircraft were shot down by their own AA during the Pearl Harbour attack. One, John L. Daines, may have scored the US Military’s first air-to-air victory of the war, but was killed by his own airfield’s defences. Of course, the vast majority of AA gunners at Pearl Harbour had never seen combat before. Add to that the fact that they were taken by surprise and the vast majority of aircraft in the air that day were Japanese and killing US troops, and it becomes obvious why such mistakes were made.
