VR problem with the ESC button ?

The ESC button will not work for me when mapped to my joystick. have to use ESC on keyboard to bring up menu or to close chat. when in VR hard to find keyboard.

ESC is a special button

 

But you can use Joystick Gremlin or any other mapping tool to map ESC itself to a button there.
