What have i done wrong

Im messing about with the quick missions, load one up that i like, and then alter the number of planes down so its me and a wingman against 1 or 2 british bombers. 

 

Issue is, once in a while, the mission will load, but it will be an external view where the ONLY thing i can do is push buttons and change the camera angle, or just use the mouse to zoom in and out and change the view. 

 

Is this caused by me deleting my plane from the mission list by accident?

No idea. In any case, a simple way to resolve the problem is exiting the mission, going back to the main menu of the game, and select again "Single player", "Quick mission", etc.

You need to click the doll above the plane you want to fly (there must be at least 1) also in mission you can take the control of any (flyable of course) plane with Ctrl + F1 (I think this is the default assignment)
