Hi Blorg, thank you very much, but please, I have no intention of being a nuisance to you, so only do it if it's simple and/or easy. After all, I suspect I'm the only one still running on such an old Android, and if this is the end of the line, I'll have to accept it.
Before upgrading I kept the version 0.65 saved here and it runs well on most planes, so I'm not totally lost. :)

When I have time, I'm happy to do it, you're not the only one with an older device, and potentially future users too. I'm doing my bit to keep old devices going and useful instead of chucking them away :)

Hello All.  Just discovered this amazing app. First I would like to say thanks to Blorg for making this available to the community. It is truly a wonderous work of art.

Secondly, I am running a 3 screen setup. This is a new computer build with a 7950X3d AMD CPU and Nvidia 4080 GPU. I do have a built in AMD video card in addition that is unused. I seriuously doubt Dials app would tax it. However, when I look at task manager it shows the video card is using around 20%to 30% resources with just the network app and the two dials clients running. This is before starting IL2. Anyone else out there experience this slowdown with the mouse after running dials? I disabled my anti-virus but the issues persists. I havent seen any reports of Dials causing frame rate or mouse slowdown issues. Any ideas on what I could try?

Thanks,

Rob

Hello, yes that does seem like a lot of gpu usage, this app can run on ancient tablets no problem, it's fully 2d, so it definitely doesn't take a lot of gpu to run it. There's something weird going on with the mouse speed when using multi monitors, I think it's linked to something Unity is doing and I've not found a way to stop it happening. I also can't debug this because my second monitor blew up last month!
The only thing I can think of is to try to alt+enter the clients to make them full screen and check the gpu usage (and the mouse movement?). Unfortunately there's no settings anywhere in the app to change

Mouse fix?

Client Version 0.66b
Server version - no need to update server

I have uploaded a version which attempts to solve the mouse lag issues some people were experiencing. If anybody had that problem it would be great if you could let me know if it works! I think I could feel the slowdown, and that's fixed. I have disabled the ability to assign a key to the bf109 oil/water temperature button for now until I get to the bottom of this. I don't think anyone knew about that feature anyway!

Blorg,

Is there anyway to change the background behind the guages? I am wondering if we could import a bitmap that we could then place the guages over as we like. This would for example be useful for folks that run MFDs. Perhaps support up to N bitmaps for a left and right MFD.

Currently there's no way to do this. Some work has been done on it, but it was never finished.

Thanks for letting me know the mouse fix worked! That's a relief.

Hello!

Mouse is fixed.

Question :

when il2 dials opens, I have two IL2 Dials windows.

I can close one, and it works.

But I have a question: if it opens two windows, is it because it detects 2 open il2 games?

Because I have a feeling that's what's happening.

thank.

You can add extra windows and drag them to second monitors and have different dials on each client. It will remember your windows for next time you launch. You perhaps added a window by mistake. Click the red "delete" screen to fix your problemo ;)

Hello!.

thank you for your reply.

That's certainly what I did.

But there's no “red screen”.

edit : ok i am stupid... find the red screen. and other things ...

Hi @Blorg are you still updating the app?

there are a few things I wish we could have, like the RPM gauges on the Arado and 262s.

Is there a way to save/export cockpit layouts? I can think of so many cool features for this too and I'm curious to know how you catch the data from IL2.

Cheers!

Thanks to the author for this wonderful application. But I want to inform you that the compass of Soviet aircraft has an incorrect scale. Between the numbered values of the scale there is only one divider line instead of two, which makes it impossible to correctly determine the course.

Hello, sorry for the late reply, my email notifications decided to stop working.
The app should save each cockpit layout per plane on the client you create them. I never thought anyone would want to export layouts so there is no feature for that. The data itself is stored in the windows registry so if you really wanted you could look for il2-dials in there.

Unfortunately I'm not updating the app at the moment other than when 1C breaks it. Never say never though, there's still a few things I'd like to do.

Regarding the Arado, and this also addresses the "how do I get the data" question, I don't currently have a way to get the Arado engine information, although I think I know how to get it now. I had to reverse engineer the sim to find where the functions live so I can watch what they write. As you can imagine, it is quite difficult to find this stuff in a full simulation, and even harder to reliably retreive it. It's also why the server app is so fragile. If a function name changes, or 1C add a new variable to one of the planes, it can be bad. The app is open source, and I'm happy to help any investigations in to it, feel free to DM me or join the discord and get me there (the notifications actually work and I have it on my phone so can reply quickly - discord invite on page 1 of this thread)

@Oknevas
Thanks for the report. The compasses were made before I had a system to switch different dials for different planes. I've noted it on my bugs channel on the discord :salute:

Hello Borg! I am having an issue with a slow/lagging mouse. I thought it was Steam causing it, but then someone told me it sometimes occurs with dials. Is there a fix for that problem? It's not really a huge issue because it doesn't seem to happen much while I'm in the game, but sometimes it does cause my view to keep panning over when I stop looking around.

I'm not on my computer right now, but if I remember correctly, the steps are:
1. Start the server part (IL2 Dials Server.exe) on the computer where you play the game. It will show on a small window. Obs: the server will usually start on the port 11200 (you can check and/or change this by clicking on the "cogs" icon on the lower left).
2. Provided you installed the client part on another computer/cellphone, start it too (if on the same computer, move it to a monitor different of that you use to play).

3. On the client interface, click on the "bar/hamburguer" symbol on the lower part, and then on the "wifi" symbol that will appear on the screen.

4. Put the IP and port of the server in and check if the "red light" on the lower right will turn green. If so, congratulations, you have the client connected to the server, and now you can just start the game and play. The gauges will appear as soon as you start flying.

Hope it helps.
Cheers

I'll just add that EVERY gauge available for that plane is going to pop up the 1st time. This is where you arrange\remove gauges to look the way you want, Dials will save the layout. This has to be done for every plane..

Hi, is it normal for the automatic IP scan to take a long time to connect?

Depending on your network mask, it can mean thousands of addresses to be scanned before it find yours. For example, if your netmask is 255.255.255.0 then it is "just" 254 addresses to scan, but if it is 255.255.0.0, we are talking 65,536 hosts. 255.0.0.0 = 16,777,214 hosts. Best to put it manually, if possible.
