Thanks, Icer!

That was precisely my problem - I inadvertently had two “dials” servers running.

It now no longer crashes.

That's great to hear! You can run multiple Dials Clients (for multiple monitors) but only ONE server!

No i think you need to learn how a actual p8 compass works , some one explain to him please!

@ACG_Ginger I suggest sir, you temper your comments.  In the lower left of the display, the HUD CLEARLY says 311, or did you miss that? Aaaaaaaaand, which way is the T pointing? Oh right, 311.

Regardless of how the P8 or any other system works in real life, in IL2, it works this way. In future, if you wish to discuss things of this nature, and attempt to put down another member of this forum as you did SO quickly with me, please think before you do (as I have in this case, post is HEAVILY edited for decorum).

Have a nice day.

Hi Sid they are stored in the registry at "Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\DellyWellySoftware\IL-2 Dials"
You can't copy and paste with the windows registry editor but you can with "Registry Explorer" https://m.majorgeeks.com/files/details/registryexplorer.html

I know it's annoying it isn't in a file but this is the default behaviour of Unity, hopefully you can grab them with Registry Explorer

Right click on the key and then choose to "export", saving as a file. In the future, if needed, just double click the exported file and reinsert the info in the registry.

Are you using a mobile device? Can't speak to the windows client as I haven't used it.. But on Android, you get icons at the top right and you can make dials bigger/smaller per your preferences.

Hi Abu, you can organise and zoom the dials if you press the menu button at the bottom, and then the left hand button

image.thumb.png.529fd751920947a68549faa1e3fb0d6e.png

image.thumb.png.d422f1da3331877c655064cfe6091e32.pngimage.thumb.png.7e212b3ccc3982fb5a7c8aa7b8a02ea7.png

Click and drag to make bigger or smaller.
You hide dials and move them here too. Each plane will be saved individually.

Sorry for the late reply, I just had a tough weekend ?

PS It is possible you can not see the menu button because your window is stretched very wide. This is a known issue and will be fixed for the next update!

Try loading the app and server before you launch the game. Other than that, perhaps uninstall il2 server and make sure you have the latest server from itch.io.

Something to try until the experts chime in.. . Start the IL-2 Dials Server (make SURE it is only running 1 Server!) then start the IL-2 Dials client so you have the Client Window open with a green light, should say "Waiting for Mission Start". Do a Quick Mission in a plane you have flown before (since that is your issue). If no gauges show in the IL-2 Dials Client window Pause IL-2 and Alt-Tab over to the IL-2 Dials Client window, click the "Menu" icon bottom center, click the left "Dials" icon. Are there any Dials there? If not try click the @ icon to set the window to default, see if that gets you gauges...

Found another use for my secondary displays to help me stop damaging my engines by running High RPM or Boost beyond the time limits given. The pic got a bit compressed (the clock is crystal clear on my screen) but you get the idea. Just set the colors/fonts/format, resize and drop it where you want to see it (it's always on top), set two keys (Start/Stop and Reset), done. I'm still playing with it but this pic gives you and idea. My Spit Vb engine under full boost and RPM showed damage at 05:23:21, which is 23 seconds over what the charts show so you have a slight margin in this one case.. FREE App is called XNote Stopwatch, got it from the MS  Store..

I use F12 to Start/Stop/F9 to Reset to 0, to get a joystick to send you would need to use Joy2Key or similar, I do not believe you can use a DX press directly.

Release v0.51 US Dials
image.thumb.png.1ec34d12b406d816db2b4375e5fd4500.png
Largely untested - releasing due to A20 manifolds breaking on game update
If you don't fly the A20 and don't want the missing US dials, I'd say hold off on this update for a week or so

Added - Loads of US dial variants
Fixed- A-20 manifolds not working after update

Notes!
- I rushed this out to fix the A20 manifolds after Il-2 updated.
- Some layouts may need a reset to show all dials (sorry)

Hello Blorg, thanks a lot man. Great work!

i run it on iPad Pro 10.5 inch @ 1366x1024@60HZ

Edit: Duet Display is the name of iOS app.  Also works with iPhones of course.

(u can ramp it up to 2048x1536@60hz) WIRED with lightning  to usb -> Windows PC. the app is 15$ and to my knowledge one of just very few that really work. I do use it for graphical pen + desktop draw software so there’s a few other options for this workaround but as far as I know they’re all monthly subscriptions. If somebody finds a „free“ solution pls let me know.

there might be 120hz possible in the pro version of duet display, I haven’t tested it cuz it’s also 15$/M sub.

performance is great no input lag what so ever wired 60hz is crispy fast so clockhands and needles flip like on screen #1. u have to set Auto Lock to „Never“ in settings - Display and brightness. U can also use this wireless but I haven’t tested it.

as a little request it would be awesome to have little trim gauges. and the mighty „Watch“ to calc engine management… if dials would be working like GameGlass f.e. we could actually hit the button to start the stopwatch  ?

Touch works flawless, so hitting a knob/button wouldn’t be an issue. if you need help let me know! I have another idea since a lot of pilots left marks on the gauges with let’s say red markers on certain stroke marks (1.1 ATA in the 190a8 for example) I’m not a programmer i guess this would be some work. I used to paint my custom cockpit red strokes with photoshop. do you think this is possible to digitalize ? big ups and keep up the good work!

@edrush Great work on an iPad setup! I do hope to get the apple license once I reach version 1.0 but this is a great solution in the mean time.
Regarding the clock, it definitely would be cool to put in and I have thought about a stopwatch with a touch start/stop feature, that would be ace.
I have been adding all the marks that I see modelled in game on the dials, there are some red triangles on some of the German dials which I believe were used instead of drawing on the dial. You could spin them like how you can spin the repeater compasses in game. But all good ideas and something to explore once I finish the engine dials.
Little progress report for those not on the Discord, I've managed to get access to the water temperatures finally and have unlocked some barriers that were in my way (Temps are calculated in Kelvin so that's why I struggled to find them for so long!). I just need to start modelling them.
Also if anyone is noticing manifold pressures flicking a bit, I've found the cause for that (I believe) so that'll be fixed in the next release

edrush: could you give some details on how you connected to an iPad? I’ve been wanting to do this for a while.

Posted

hey DragonDaddy, just download duet App on iPad (15 Bucks), duet App for windows and hook up your tablet/phone via lightning to usb. Make sure obviously to connect to usb 3.0 blue. iPad should appear as second monitor in windows if you selected your desired resolution and refreshrate.

set the „auto lock“ setting to „never“ in settings -> display and brightness on iPad. this simply prevents iPad from sleep which crashes your dial setup.

start dial server and dials, push one of the dial windows over to iPad screen hit alt+enter (borderless fullscreen) now start the game

I setup my iPad to be underneath my first screen left corner in windows (multiple display setup  positioning), now you can comfortably rearrange your dials just going down with your mouse.

@Blorg yes i guess apple style guide and so on, demands are high. this is a good workaround for now and regarding the dial handles maybe you could just click a desired one and it turns red. click it another time and it switches back to normal (white/yellowish)

i hope you understand what I mean. Pilots really just took markers and painted on the glass… maybe some even painted certain markers on their long term relationship Planes. then other stuff like the rotary arrow. yes would be cool little features. I hope your fine I’m just dropping my ideas, here love your project haha

Hi, this is my 1st post on the forum, so I hope I don't break any rules.

I've been playing offline for about 6 months now and one of my biggest problems is

seeing the aircraft dials and buttons.

Your app is really, really helpful, especially when in the heat of battle.

One thing I would like to see is the Oil and Water temp gauges.

On all the aircraft I've tried to fly, these seem to always be stuck behind something,

or in a corner somewhere. I'm really good at burning the engines on E-7's and Spit Vb's.

If you can't do the actual gauges, maybe some kind of Red line indicator would suffice.

I'm currently using your app mirrored on an old iPad 2 via a free program: Splashtop Wired XDisplay.

It has Windows and iPad components, both available from their website, just do a search.

It's fairly easy to set-up and has several videos on YouTube. If I can make it work anyone can.

One odd issue I'm having is when I start the Dials client it starts 3 distinct instances of the program.

This happens whether the mirroring program is running or not. Annoying yes, but not a deal breaker.

Thanks for your efforts Blorg and keep up the hard work.
