On this date in 1942, the Doolittle raid was launched against Japan from the deck of USS Hornet.

 

 

Hopefully someday we can recreate this in the sim.

Given that the Doolittle raid was a primary motivation for Yamamoto’s Operation MI, the Battle of Midway, I think it’s safe to say that April 18th wasn’t his lucky day.

Did you know that 250.000 (two-hundred-and-fifty-thousand) Chinese civilians were murdered by the Japanese because a few of them helped some American who were in this raid escape? Boggles the mind what consequences it had for a people that didn't really have much to do with the raid at all.
