Yes I did a search...just want to see what you guys say.

I tried an uninstaller like I used to use in the old days, booted in safe mode, still got an install error.

I don't think I've ever had this particular issue before in all my years of futzing with video cards etc.

I'll try a driver sweeper this time, boot into safe mode again... maybe this time.

Guru3d Display Driver Uninstaller?

Check this option to prevent Windows update older drivers after uninstall

Thanks.

I'd already run it a few times, hadn't checked that box...once I did the problems persisted until I found the hidden "standard" drivers page, downloaded the 'standard' version of the driver, and now all is well.

That was only 5 hours of my life.

That was after hours spent with getting the system to post (which was my brain fart not flashing and updating the bios properly at first)

I got a better one for ya.

When I built this rig in Jan 2019 I was shall we say, quite nervous. Not from lack of experience mind you, been building them since like the mid 90's. But this was going to be my first build after I lost exactly half my eyesight. Well it took me twice as long - go figure - but I finally got it together and crossed my fingers when I went to push the power button. And nothing. Not even a flicker. Looked around inside the case, checked my little wire connections going to power, reset, etc. All looked good. Unplugged and plugged back in to be safe.

Held my breath. Pressed the button again - nothing, nadda. Great, just great. I was at a loss. Looked at the manual, compared to how I had everything set up.

Then, looked at my new case manual again. And there it was. I was pressing the wrong dang button the whole freakin time!!!

Pressed the correct button - voila, she came to life whirling and purring like a kitten - got into that bios right away and I was all smiles.

Mind you that was about a 45 minute period between my first attempt to start it and finally realizing I needed to press the actual power button.

Ha...I'll take your 45 minutes over my hours though.

I should have known that the native/stock bios wasn't up to date enough for the Zen 3.

I unnecessarily took all the drives out too before realizing how simple the fix was...and this was litteraly moments before I was going to start the return process on my Mobo, GPU, memory...

The damn GPU driver asshattery wasn't any fun either, but in between all of this was Windows not wanting to activate because it was tied to my old motherboard...involving wiping the drive, a reinstall, windows support from Godforsaken India.

This hasn't been fun.

Up now though...but still waiting for new GPU to replace this 1080.

When pigs fly AND hell freezes over. I read somewhere that NVIDIA expects the shortage to last into 2022!

Exactly the same thing happened to me but I had ordered the X570 motherboard with a new bios version. It took a week to figure out why I couldn’t access the bios. It came with an old BIOS ?
