Jareth Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 I recently started using my X-56 for IL-2 and noticed some very odd behavior with the throttle. In every other game and out of game curve it works flawlessly - yet in IL-2 alone the throttle scaling is off. In fact, this scaling is off for EVERY analog dial on the thing! For example, if I move the throttle to its 50% position in game it will register at 30%. I take it all the way up to 80% and it finally hits 50! The climb up to 50% is very slow and gradual, then after I hit that (actual 80%) throttle position it ROCKETS up to 100%. Effectively, this makes controlling the high end of throttle impossible. I cannot control if I am in Combat vs takeoff or emergency power mode. This is unfortunate, and forces me to play the game with full engine protections on so I can just leave it on full throttle and fly around. Obviously, that isn't a solution. If anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear them because I have searched all over to try and find a resolution to my problem. By the way - my friend bought the exact same stick at the exact same time - and is having the EXACT same problem. Works fine in every other game - not IL-2.
ZachariasX Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 It happened to me that when I set a large deadzone to compensate the imprecise ministick on the throttle, that other axis was influeced as well, even the mouse panning was affected. I don‘t know if such is still possible, it was some patches ago. If you can see that yout throttle axis is linear in response when looking in the windows system, then I would backup my keybind settings and then reset them all. Then check if the problem persists. 1
Jareth Posted April 25, 2021 Author Posted April 25, 2021 I've tried resetting my keybinds and unfortunately that has not helped me or my friend resolve the issue. Very strange, I cannot figure out why it is having trouble with IL-2 when it works everywhere else.
FlyingH Posted April 25, 2021 Posted April 25, 2021 Have you checked your difficulty settimg so you dont have the game controlling your engine settings? The rightmost column on the settings page.
Jareth Posted April 28, 2021 Author Posted April 28, 2021 On or off those settings dont affect the throttle scaling in the way mine is, I have tried. That's why I mentioned that I have to leave the throttle controls on, as I cannot fine-tune the throttle control manually. Very unsure what could be causing this.
OG_NickNack68 Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 If I remember correctly, I started having the same issue with mine after reinstalling drivers (or a certain update, can't remember which). Throttle was all over the place and couldn't make it work. Then I realized that I had plugged it into a USB 3.0 instead of the USB 2.0 port. Switched it back (luckily my keyboard has a USB 2 port as my updated system doesn't) and it worked flawlessly as it always had. Don't know why that is but it seemed to be fixed by that. Hope this helps. Nick
