jollyjack Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 I sometimes wonder why there are generally 2 ways of waypointing a group of planes i've seen used so far. Each Wingman is individually linked to the leader 1) Leader and 2, sometimes more, wingmen. Mission begin, timer pointing to the 1st waypoint, objeclinked to the leader only. OnPlaneTookOff set to 1st Waypoint, and the start timer triggers another plm 3s timer to a formation command object linked to the leader. 2) Leader and often more than 2 wingmen. Leader only has OnPlaneTookOff pointing to 1st waypoint. Mission begin triggers ONE timer to Take Off command and Formation command at the same time, TakeOff Command is object linked to ALL the planes in the group. In this setup every waypoint on the route has oblect links to ALL the planes in the group. Now what is better, as both 1) and 2) seem to work, but i get a general feeling that with system 1) wingmen loose track of the leader more easily after a while, like after actions taken like attack commands etc. and regrouping to an RTB waypoint, (Object linked to the leader then without a new formation command).
