[80 years ago today[ :• The US Army Air Corps orders 2,000 Vultee O-49 Vigilant light observation aircraft. The STOL plane is able maintain stable flight at 31 mph.

 

Vultee Vigilant. 113 of these will be transferred to the RAF under lend-lease. Many will be converted to evacuate wounded from forward areas.
