BlackBadger Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Hey all, so some time ago (many many versions back) I might have played around with mods and clouds and whatnot. Is there any chance that leftovers of this would be somehow still active in the game? Or do they get overwritten every new update? I'm asking as I've noticed when looking at the clouds - they seem to "jump" between different stages. it's like flickering but not quite. it's like a when you're watching a GIF that's like 2 FPS if that makes sense. Is this normal behaviour or something I did? I believe i have clouds on max settings. Also i'm still getting that shimmery outline on planes that pass infront of clouds, has this not been fixed yet? I have seen some mention of a new engine coming out too, is there a timeframe on this? Specs: i7 8700k, RTX 3070 thanks in advance!
jollyjack Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 The only way is finding out comparing with a freshly installed game? Just rename the whole game folder and run the installer. That if you got about 100GB space on your drive. Or if you manually remove all the cloud related textures, the game might reinstall them if you delete the update folder.

Strangly, some clouds are moving and transforming fluently and others have this low update frequency... 1
Art-J Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Both aspects are "normal". The outline one has been reduced somewhat a couple of patches ago, that's all they could do for now with current gfx engine. 1
[APAF]VR_Spartan85 Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Yup this is how the clouds just are...

Actually the jittering can be fixed by reducing the result noise and noise amp it the sky.ini file. The plane outline however Is I think as good as it can get. Edited April 14, 2021 by rowdyb00t

Yeah I figured out with my setup (I always fly in VR) that looking straight ahead in the cockpit the clouds' framerate is slow but turning your head 90° left or right it speeds up. It would be nice if they could make it that the clouds always have the high framerate but slow down the animation.
