I know what dude means generally, but in IL2 generated missions, campaigns, careers the term is often used, and timer related ... what's the philosophy behind it ?

Trigger Timer as used after a mission begin, or other delay needed for an MCU to fire.. time settings adjustable from a few ms to 10 minutes.

One of the most used and useful ME assets LoL. Alas it cannot trigger my coffee percolator to start (yet??).

However, now I am as baffled as you to why dude for your timer but this might help:

 

Googled, 'a man; a guy (often as a form of address)'. what you would call someone but still does not quite make sense. 

 

In Russian there might not actually be a specific word they can use that translates well into English but intending to mean the position of the timer maybe, as when you try to point out to a friend a particular individual across the street for instance, him, that dude over there, so as a objective, where he is and where to go and where to go to find the guy,  in the ME becomes the target or waypoint.

Well guess it has to do with a Russian expression to do with timers. Like delay? The term Dude is allover present in missions and careers etc from IL2 themselves.

Also you it seems there's a lot to learn looking at QMB generated missions, f.i. in one i found a 4 ships convoy group keeping proper distances;

i would not have come up with such a clever solution.

I think it was IckyATLAS who came up with another nice one for ships, much more complicated thought (more ships, it worked fine).
