Spinnetti Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 Given the Normandy theatre, shouldn't we also get the Jagdpanther? 2
LachenKrieg Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 (edited) If we look at the collector planes that have been released, it is hard to imagine that there are no plans to release more collector vehicles once the AAA trucks are out. The other point worth considering in relation to collector vehicles is that they don't necessarily need to belong to the current Eastern front map, or even a Tank Crew module. Just like the AAA trucks, future collector vehicles could be released as stand alone. Once the Normandy map is out, there would be nothing stopping them from releasing a King Tiger/Firefly combo, or a Jagdpanther/Pershing duo for example. The Normandy map IMO basically puts the entire WWII armored vehicle set on the table as a possibility. Edited April 11, 2021 by LachenKrieg 1
[KG]Destaex Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 (edited) Lach. We should though consider that as far as I know, not looking into il2 Normandy at all, that the Normandy map is not built for Tanks. Therefore anybody that wanted to play in Normandy would find it looks horrible. I personally hope we see more tanks but I have my doubts. Edited April 11, 2021 by [KG]Destaex
BlitzPig_EL Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 I drive tanks on all the maps and I don't find the "non tank" maps "horrible". Certainly not up to the standard of the little map for tanks, but still very playable, and a welcome change from the same thing, over and over and over...
BraveSirRobin Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 The negativity around PC gaming is quite remarkable. Until we start talking about the old games. Panzer Elite was so AWESOME!!! This game looks horrible. Just make sure you never compare them side by side. 1
ww2fighter20 Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 (edited) Jagdpanther was an very rare tank in Normandy (between 10-20 units operational each month) similar story with the Tiger II. Panther A, Stug IIIG and PzIVH were common in Normandy so it's more likely they will be made as ai vehicles. Also for Bodenplatte they only made 1 new german tank (Jagdpanzer IV/70) and an simplified AI version of the Tiger I from tank crew. With Normandy resources will also be put into making ships + allied ground vehicles so don't get your hopes up for any new german tanks released with Normandy. They might make an simplified version of the PzIVG and the Panther D from tank crew since that's easier then an new tank. Edited April 12, 2021 by ww2fighter20
[KG]Destaex Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 (edited) What I would like is the stugIII or a T34-85. But I would love anything. A chruchill crocodile would also be amazing. Perhaps we could have a greyhound scoutcar or an 8rad armoured car. It would be a lot of fun to role play scouting missions. Heck I would love a towed at gun or an artillery piece as well. Edited April 12, 2021 by [KG]Destaex
Wolfpack345 Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 A Stug III would make for a fantastic collector vehicle. I would love to see it. Really though, I would take anything haha 1
Feathered_IV Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 I’m sure there will be a Stug, Hetzer and Jagdpanther announced real soon. Don’t even worry about it

We're hoping for the same thing, but you have to admit now that collector vehicles are a thing, wouldn't you find it strange if they stopped once the AAA trucks are finished and released? I suppose additional collector vehicles wouldn't necessarily mean they have to be tanks, but what else should we expect? Supply trucks? Regarding the map itself, it says right in the Tank Crew product description that it can be used as stand alone, or with other GBS titles. "Combine all titles to create on big WWII air and ground combat simulation." 4 hours ago, ww2fighter20 said: Jagdpanther was an very rare tank in Normandy (between 10-20 units operational each month) similar story with the Tiger II. Good point, but I am not sure that the rarity of the tank plays into the decision on what tank gets modeled. The Panther D was the rarest of all the Panthers produced. My point was simply that once the Normandy map has been released, they could announce the addition of almost any WWII armored vehicle as a collector tank if they wanted to. I doubt very much, in fact I am quite certain that there will not be any collector vehicles released with the Normandy map.
beresford Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 You should remember that Prokhorovka is the only map designed for tanks. I was reminded of this yesterday when I was shot repetitively through a building by AI, I imagine that only the Prokhorovka map has obstacle boxes for the buildings. Not to mention some of the crazy roads, the villages with wells in the middle of the road, and of course the infamous invisible trees. The real question is whether Tank Crew is successful enough to justify a dedicated new module based around a high detail part of the Normandy map (and then the plane jockeys would complain that their frame rates slow down).

While that is a good question, even if Tank Crew has done well enough to warrant a second version, I think we are still a long way off in terms of time from hearing any announcement regarding TC2. Concerning the maps, I have experienced invisible objects on the Prokhorovka map as well. I think finding a real solution to the problem will almost certainly have to include updating the engine in the core game.
01Wingchaps Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 What the Normandy map needs... Is an M4a2e8 Sherman. 1
I.JG3_CDRSEABEE Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 Since the Russian AA truck wont work on Normandy, we will need another for the U.S. Quad 50's? If so then we need a flak panzer (Wirbelwind?) 2
M3Grant Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 (edited) Personally I would prefer a new dedicated tank map instead of just a section of Normandy. I recently spent 3 weeks away from home (and my stick) and decided to test out the tanks in Battle of Stalingrad. Even with the base tanks I had a ton of fun. I did run into the invisible trees, but it wasn't often enough or annoying enough to be game ruining. Personally I would prefer a Tank Crew: Second Battle of Al Alamein with the Churchill III, M3 Lee/Grant, Crusader, and M5 Light tank vs. Panzer IV (Short Barreled F version), the Italian M13/40 (or Panzer III), Italian M14/41, and the Semovente da 75/18. I'd personally be fine with an entire game set here, but with the new Cliffs of Dover expansion that's unlikely. Edited April 12, 2021 by M3Grant
LachenKrieg Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 I don't think the Cliffs of Dover should exclude a North African Tank Crew module, they are two completely different games. But I agree, I quite like the BOS and BOB maps.
M3Grant Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 I never said anything about Cliffs of Dover excluding a Tank Crew game, I was talking about how an aircraft game would be out of the question, besides, a number of the planes are already in game, A-20, P-40, Hurricane II, Spitfire VB, BF-109F-2 Ju-88, He-111, etc. Sorry I worded it weirdly.

After looking at some videos on the Second Battle of El Alamein, it turns out that the Churchill III should be a Valentine(there was 194 Valentines and only 3 Churchills), and the M13/40 should be a Panzer IV F2(long barreled F version). 7./KG51_Baumbach Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 I too would like to add my enthusiasm behind the hope of getting a Jagdpanther,my fav tank of all time,so would dearly love to see one of these beauties grace Tank Crew, ooh, tank pawn !!! 1
Monty_Thrud Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 Really hope theres more to come with TC, would love A firefly, Churchills, etc. I think the King Tiger would be a big seller too. If they ever did Western Desert Battles at least the map furniture would be minimal.
renpacro Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 I would love a TC2, with jadgpanther, jadgtiger (to test the pak44 128mm), tiger 2 (my favorite WWII tank), a cute hetzer, Comet, churchill and sherman firefly. And Later a TC3 with IS-1, IS-2, Su-100, kv2, and T-34-85.
DarkZenith Posted April 18, 2021 Posted April 18, 2021 We can always dream, but new content hasn't exactly been a thing with TC so far. Wasted potential, if you ask me. ?

Wasted potential, if you ask me. ? It's just gotten started, two highly detailed anti-aircraft vehicles are being prepared for release, at a time when Flying Circus II is being developed AND more content and features keep being released for the main WWII air sim. Give it some time. I look on what we have now as a 'proof of concept'. It has sold well, and will lead to more development, in the same way that Flying Circus I was a project that, because it's sold well, is being further developed. As went Flying Circus, so will Tank Crew.
DD_Crash Posted April 18, 2021 Posted April 18, 2021 If the developers could get an official tie in with the Bovington Tank Museum it would really help get the game known. For instance they could have a sim set up in the museum and charge people to play for a short period and even sell Tank Crew.I would like to know Jasons thoughts on that. 1
Spinnetti Posted April 23, 2021 Author Posted April 23, 2021 In the meantime, Postscriptum seems to have some great infantry/tank play going on that's pretty engagine.
itsbillyfrazier Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 I must check out Post Scriptum again as its been months since I've fired it up. I never found it very engaging though and always found myself quitting after about 15 min of gameplay. (perhaps that says more about me than PS though! ?)But I have less patience with FPS as I get older.... I still like to fire up Rising Storm Vietnam every so often, but usually don't last long there either.
AngryBeaver Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 The StuG III would be a fantastic additions to Tank Crew... I'd love to see the StuG III as a collectors store vehicle! 1 3

Angry_Kitten Posted April 25, 2021 Posted April 25, 2021 Me, id be happy if i could just be able to drive the armoured vehicles in Tobruk. 1
