In the spring sale email there was also an update about 4.6.  I can't find it on the forum so I've added it here.  There were a few pics but I've only included the ones I can't remember seeing before.

Edit:  I took the liberty of correcting 'chalk full' to 'chock full'. Because.

Update 4.6 Coming in April

We plan to release version 4.6 later this month assuming testing goes well. In this update, you will find an astonishing load of new content - Spitfire Mk. XIV for Battle of Normandy, Nieuport N.28 for Flying Circus: Vol. II and GAZ-MM 72-K AAA Collector Vehicle. In addition to these great war-winning machines, we’ll have many tweaks, improvements and fixes as usual - the most important ones are Tactical Codes and our new Dynamic Visual Damage already working on tanks, GAZ-MM AAA, P-51D-15 and Nieuport 28 (the rest of our 60+ aircraft will be gradually updated this year - it's a lot of work). Also included will be re-mastered 4K skins by our partner Martin “ICDP” Catney for three previously released aircraft - the Ju 88 A-4 (Battle of Moscow), MC.202 and Spitfire Mk.Vb Collector Planes. The so-called “109 concrete tail” phenomenon will be fixed - we have remodeled Bf 109 tails and now they behave like all other aircraft tail sections in the sim. Finally, for fans of Bodenplatte, we will be including improved railyards for 15 previously built towns and cities on the map. These will make juicy targets!

Work on Battle of Normandy, Flying Circus Vol. II and the Sd.Kfz. 10/5 Flak 38 Collector Vehicle will continue full-blast throughout the entirety of 2021. The maps for both BON and FCII are also being worked on as we speak. 2021 will be chock full of great new content and features like an improved Advanced Quick Mission Builder. More details to follow soon about that.

Stay Informed!

We continue to post Developer Diaries that showcase what we are working on and alert you to upcoming releases. We invite you to stay informed by keeping an eye on our DDs which we try to release every Friday or as often as possible.

We hope you enjoy the Spring Sale and we also hope that you and your family remain safe from COVID and if possible, we hope you can get vaccinated and end this terrible pandemic.

See you in the sky and on the battlefield!

The IL-2 Sturmovik Team

Yes - an Advanced Quick Mission Generator (something much needed)!!

Honestly, I bet a lot of people fly using the QMB/QMG a lot because it allows them to get into the action faster (and doesn't require the 30-40 minutes that other missions do). Without a time-skip feature (like the old sims had) a better QMB is really important.

I hope it will have a few hand-craft ground targets with more interesting layouts (e.g. airfields with static aircraft to strafe, marshalling yards, etc.)

I also hope that it will allow us to save and load presets (or have presets saved for each location)... so that we don't have to make multiple changes to settings if we want to switch sides etc!

Which means we‘ll get this feature much sooner then I anticipated - awesome!

Advanced Quick Mission Builder

I think Jason said in his birthday threat that this would basically be the old campaign system - which would be great. While career as a campaign system is far more immersive, the old system was good as a quick mission generator - I think it would compliment the current options for SP very well.

Yes, we have long wanted to offer missions that are fun, challenging and easy to set up. The previous "Campaign" system was just that, but many users wanted our old "Career" system as we had in ROF. So, we built that instead, but we always knew that we could expand the QMB to include the old campaign system that was previously tied to our crappy unlock system which was dumped long ago. Although, it's not really a campaign system in the traditional sense, it's more of a Advanced Quick Mission Builder and we will try to take as many elements of that as possible and graft it into the QMB to offer you yet even more ways to enjoy mission content, of course without any unlock stuff. This was the biggest news in the Q & A. Glad some of you picked up on it.

If the new QMB let's us choose the type of tanks to hunt in our wonderful IL2s, and have a choice of targets - building, bridge, airfield - and maybe light and heavy options for AAA at those targets, as well as a populated home airfield, that will be The Cat's Ass:dance:

If the sim offers up a new easier better way to design our own flights, it's a big fat win! Can't wait to see how this plays out.

Lately QMB is about the only element of the game I have time for, great news.

Oooh, very interesting news. I like the QMB but always felt it was lacking some options to make slightly more complex mission setups. I don't even remember the old campaign system if I'm honest, but more options is good. Thank you for updating this part of the game!
