JG5_Zesphr Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 (edited) Hello! I'm new here and have begun my migration from warthunder to IL2 BoS after loosing all my faith in their Simulator Battles" mode. I'm no sim pilot but i want to learn and since this game IS realistic, i might as well try it So if there is any of you Ex- warthunderers please tell your story <-- this is me Edited June 8, 2014 by Zephyr 1
kestrel79 Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Welcome! I still play Warthunder. Their new combined Tanks and Planes mode for Simulator Battles COULD be cool, but they need it on some larger maps and make the tanking less arcade.
StarLightSong Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 (edited) Meanderings re: War THunder! WT- still do a bit of SimB to support the few there. Graphics quality, spotting, losing planes and / or tanks in the backgrounds, FM, cockpitless bombers- more than maps are needed : ) But I support them bringing more than 100,000 players into the historical gaming milieu, many on the aviation side. It's a great product with a lot of "player momentum" generated, player stickiness/ dedication generated via constant reward popups and unlocks and player created content and plane customization- however limited, squads and youtube posters and their fans and ace of the day etc, business is business. They have approached the micropayment "well" tentatively but mostly as a matter of avoiding the "grind" of leveling up deficient vehicle starting points or unlocking more competitive variants, not very micro those hefty Premium payments. That's really not the sweet spot in terms of return for production house development time for a "paid game". The steam workshop with both player/ public created and Developer created/ sanctioned content is a better route for self sustaining projects with long term additions of optional content, (DLC etc ala Rise of FLight) as per Skyrim or whats that game with the Hats and the Engineer, Spy, Soldier- Team Fortress- seems they made so much with the micropayments that the game became free. But more creativity has to be used for the micro DLC with true micro costs in WT for them to last as long as IL-2 did. Their DLC are too expensive for too little and they add premium account advancement to flesh out a meager offering, a plane, a map, a stone, a rose, an unfound door, a stone, a rose, a door... I told you I'd meander. Gaijin are getting away with murder with their semi finished endless beta, but I still supported them to the tune of $300 because I can and it suits me to see my students at their 27inch Imacs flyings Zeros, Spits, Wellingtons, Lags, Stukas - crazy! - several picked up my X plane with the Hotas and flight pedals after a few months of WT- so that's my test case in a little school of 120 kids, 7-12. WT may help the sim aviation community- unless it kills it. . . Steam with it's payment system and play on anymachine you can log into helps also, easy joining of friends etc. Seems WT SimB may go the way of the DoDo, the waits times and small numbers make me real glad BOS will be up and official soon. anyways Guns Guns GUns!!!!!!!! : ) Edited June 10, 2014 by JJJudyJoYstickr 1
Cybermat47 Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 I'm a War Thunder player, but yeah, I prefer BoS for it's realism

SakeBasil Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Hello! It's a fact that many of us (WT current and ex players, simmers) migrated here already, and many will come. WT is my first attempt to flying simulation and today I've created an account here....and we all know why (each with his/her reasons). Soon i'll be purchasing this beautiful and promising game witch will be like an upgrade for my gaming time. Can't wait for BoS to be up and in as close to perfect shape! First impression, after I red various topics on this forum...well the community is great as expected, but the developers really give a damn about it's community and seem to be in touch with their costumers. This is very important and attractive for me + the game already looks great and i heard that feels great, too. So, many good virtual pilots are and will be here, I want to achieve that level of theirs, seems a rational action for me to come here and enjoy the ride. See you all soon, i hope, in the skies of Stalingrad! Cheers!
[TWB]Pand Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Warthunder, flight model, bombers, damage model, balls balls balls.

Am I mistaken that they brought the planes into tank maps but no tanks on plane maps? If so, it was what I was fearing it would turn out to be.
JtD Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Welcome aboard! I'm sure there are many who hope there'll be plenty of WT refugees who find their new home here. Clear skies, but watch your six! 1

Clear skies, but watch your six! thanks, im getting round to buying it, just need to set a few thing up (PS how many planes will be in the final release?)
