RNAS10_Oliver Posted April 5, 2021 Posted April 5, 2021 (edited) I bought a copy of The DH4/DH9 File (by Sturtivant et al) not too long ago in preparation for skinning the DH4 once this aircraft and it's template have arrived in Flying Circus Volume 2. Something I noticed in the in this book are that there are a number of images of DH4's with clear vision panels on them. Rather than the cut-outs seen on the Sopwith Camel these appear to be the transparent panels as seen on the Sopwith 1½ Strutter in Rise of Flight. The pilot for the DH4 sits rather squarely underneath the top wing (as in the 1½ Stutter) giving him a rather poor view upwards. I think, if the developers could manage it, that having these clear vision panels as a modification for the DH4 would be a great addition to the aircraft. I think they would be incredibly useful, bring something new to the aircraft compared to the version provided in Rise of Flight. I'm guessing that providing these panels would not add too much more hassle for developing the DH4 providing big reward for small work am assuming. The widened cut-out seems to be a rather popular modification to take for the Camel on the Flugpark server and am sure that clear vision panels for the DH4 would prove just as popular. RNAS10_Oliver Posted June 11, 2021 Author Posted June 11, 2021 Found some more examples of DH4 showing clear vision panels in another book (these from British Aviation Squadron Markings of World War 1 by Les Rogers). 5
