Free set of custom_photos (WWII planes and Tank Crew)

Hi,

first of all, I wish all of you a Happy Easter 2021.

I know, most of you already got a custom picture in your cockpit, but maybe the one or other like too use one of these pics, which i like to share with you.
I rendered them by myself (via DAZ Studio) so they are good to use for cockpit screenshots or videos without the danger of violating any copy or personal rights.

To prevent you from being disappointed after download, here's an overview to show what's included in the zip files:

Planes that are in the "planename/Textures" folder and named "custom_photo.dss" are marked with an "*" in the preview pictures.
All other pictures are in the "_BonusLw" or "_BonusA" folder.

Before you unzip and overwrite your files, you maybe should make a backup of, or rename, all your existing planes custom_photo.dds
(IL-2 BoX/data/graphics/Planes/Nameofplane/Textures)

For Allies and/or Luftwaffe planes:

Copy the "data" folder from the zip file to your "IL-2 BoX" root directory and overwrite existing files.

For Tank crew:

Choose the picture(s) you like and copy them to "IL-2 BoX/data/graphics/Vehicles/NameofTank/Textures" and rename them to "custom_photo.dds"

Click here to download from Google Drive: Custom Photo Axis WWII planes "Luftwaffe.zip"

Tank Crew compl.

Enjoy!

The work is good, the effort is great. Truly the effort gets an A.

However as someone who is into photography, not the photo editing aspect,,,,, carefully look at the photographs.  In almost 90% of them, the program you used, when it converted the photos to black and white images, it made the faces a white blob with a black smudge for the eyes and mouth.

I'm thankful for your constructive input!

Sadly i'm a complete noob in photography, so I have still to learn a lot about lights and perspectives and so on to get realistic renders.
Also sadly there is no converting tool to blame, I already render them in "black and white" (Iray render settings: saturation set to 0).

What looks good/ok in the final render does not necessary look good in game. (much smaller size)

The smaller the Picture (like the thumbnails above) or the smaller the face in the picture, the bigger the effect you mentioned. Some pictures do look different (slightly better) in game than in the thumbnails. (I hope the 90% is related to the overview-pictures ?
Another hard part is to reduce the artificial look of the faces/expressions.

I'm still learning, by trial and error. At the moment I'm "working" on photos for Tankcrew.
Then I will redo some of the pictures above (like the obviously technically badly implemented picture of the Ju52 and some other).

Tank Crew photos added.

For download, click the link in the 1st post.

Choose a photo, rename it to custom_photo.dds and copy it into your BoX/TC mainfolder->data\graphics\Vehicles\_VEHICLENAME\Textures

Why are there some Tanks with more than one, but nearly the same, photo?

a) Different poses of the model (f.e.: GAZ-MM ,  M4A2)

b) I didn't like something in the first rendered photos (Pz.VI, SdKfz251 - yes, I know the "Flak" will come on a SdKfz 10/5)

c) The ingame photo makes the rendered image look strange (Su122)

and I didn't want to delete any of them ;)

Ingame preview and .dds filenames ("original size", maximum zoom from driver seat) :

Very nice.

However, if the proportions are kept, the girls on PzV and Elephant are giants. It’s really impossible for her to be as big as a panther turret or to have her arms larger than the elephant’s gun...

Thank you for pointing this out!

You are absolute right.

I've checked nearly every model size before rendering but these two must have been slipped through.

The Elefant/Ferdinand is nearly 10% and the Pz.V >30% (+wrong proportions) to small.

I'm always pleased to receive feedback, criticism or suggestions for improvement!

I'm almost ready to upload the photos for the allied planes and the promised reworked axis photos, of course I will correct these two tanks too.

Haven’t you been keeping up with the Resident Evil Village hype? Giant women are at the height of popularity these days.

That’s only feedback. Not criticism in a bad way

Hi,

I've added a download link for Allied photos in the first post.

Axis and TC zip files are updated too.

I added an in-game-preview for Allied and Luftwaffe aircrafts. (deleted the old Axis-thumbnails).

One new "page" for TC-preview was added, because of some new photos.

Thanks to DN308 for pointing out that the Pz.V was much to small sized with an to tall girl.

I've corrected the size for a new photo, as well as I changed the Pz.V modell (with more polygons) for two more alternative photos.

The SdKfz 184 also got a new photo. The size was slightly to small too (4% to small).
The "girls"  are now 1,65 m and 1,75 m tall and no longer 1,90m (i didn't realized that she was that big)

I also double checked it with some real-live photos to be 100% sure ;)

Some Luftwaffe planes also got slightly post worked  photos, as well as two new rendered photos for Ju52 + Bf110G2.

Not released BoN planes for both sides are also included as the  both AI planes (see "_BonusA" + "_BonusLw" folders included in the main folders).

Enjoy!

I didn't have taken it in a bad way, thank you again.
