"The Beginning of the End" - Best air sim vid I've ever seen.

Easily the best air combat sim vid I've ever seen. Fantastic job on teamwork, script, camera, sound effects, flying, editing, score, well, everything really. Despite running over half an hour it didn't feel a minute too long, which is quite something for a sim movie.

The climax is a Hurri take-off scene which is just ridiculously epic, but there are so many wonderful, fleeting scenes that it would be wrong to single out just one.

I loved that the Hurri played the starring role on the British side, as in the real BoB. I loved that the formations were spaced out historically correctly. I loved that planes were realistically damaged and didn't blow up like petrol cans. All the flying was a good deal lower than in the real BoB, but that was ok, because it showed off the landscape to good effect. A few clips should not have been in (dancing radar towers, weirdly spinning Me-110 going down), but those small glitches just underline the superb quality of all the other clips and the production as a whole.

I did my share of movies, so I know what a huge job this movie must have been: it does not show though, because it is so expertly made that it looks natural and effortless. Kudos for an amazing viewing experience.

I haven't played a flight sim properly in ages (I hang around here for the people), but damn, I want to start my engine again thanks to that video!

It's kinda sad how flight sim machinimas are better flight movies than most million dollar Hollywood productions about the same thing

True!

Astonishing. What a brilliant movie and a prime example of the exciting scenarios that MP can deliver with the right attitude and good missions instead of the usual point whoring air quake which appears to be so prevalent now.

Epic!  Many congratulations to all who took part in this.

Side note:  Should the Bf 109 taxi with cockpit open?

Predictably so. The last good movie of the subject matter that I can come up with is Memphis Belle. It's clear from the effort put into it that it was made by individuals with a genuine interest in the subject matter. Even to the layman, most movies are simplistic entertainment. Something to relax and sink into just for a brief stint. Furthermore, I don't care what the ratings say of the movie's content, lots of these films are marketed to kids. Roundabout perhaps, but still are. Kids don't know the ins and outs of the history or the science. They don't know the principle strengths of airframes that dictated the strategies employed by their airmen. To them, 109s, Hurricanes, Mustangs, and Zeroes transcend nationality and politics. They recognize them for what they are at their most basic: Machines that not only allow man to fly, but to fly magnificently. I don't think anyone trying to maintain intellectual honesty can try and diminish that, especially here. On some level, everyone that has contributed to this project is still that kid deep down.

In short, that video was from one kid to all the other kids like him. Hollywood productions are from film studio to consumer-parent.

Most definately the best flightsim video i've seen so far. I hope we'll see something like this using BoS in the future.

The pilot was supposed to close the canopy before taxiing, so i guess it shouldn't. I also taxi with open canopy in BoS though.

With Flight Simulation Pilots verses Hollywood CGI you have to wonder just how much consulting they get for their movies doesn't it. This makes me think of some commercial I saw on tv once where the director wanted BIGGER more POWEFUL explosions of a wooden sailing ship. In other words, though we may be entertained, it's just a wee bit too much over the top at times.

With this CloD movie, I see and feel the flying, if you would. And having been in the sim cockpit I can better understand what it's about too. So I guess we can't blame folks for getting google eyed over and inaccurate Hollywood Flight movie, can we?

Well, I'm a kid and I get the basics, but yeah, you're right :)

Soundtrack may irritate some! and graphics dated but the editing rocks!

Every day I type in Bf 109, Fw-190, IL-2 on youtube and watch all the newest things. I saw this movie and have been sending it to people I know and commenting on it in the forums. I think it's great and I think Cliffs of Dover is still the best sim out there. I can hardly wait until the new theater comes.

I can wait, but that's more of a function of my network being horrendously slow.

Thank you all.

I haven't really been following these forums so I didn't see these comments until just now - but seeing as BoS is maturing I thought I'd drop by.

This movie really would not have been possible without all the members of ACG who flew the planes. A great bunch of guys and a wonderful part of our great community. Salute to them all.

I'm proud to say that I said "Where the bloody hell are 64?" but my favourite was "Caught them with their pants down again"  :D  There are some good comms in there,  I particularly like the scene with the Spitfire on the back of the 109, he's desperately trying to shake him off whilst exclaiming "Shoot him off me!" in German.

Good news,  we in ACG are planning more movies using the awesome talents of Flg.Off. Bonkin from Bonkin Productions,  perhaps a series of short movies,  but it'll be something different anyway.

Bonkin spent hundreds of hours putting this together for everybody,  we are very grateful for him awesome dedication and skills.

If you are squadless and want to be involved in this stuff, and our huge historical campaign battles look at the recruitment forum and mosey over to us.

When ACG cleans up the nasty things they say about me and your attempts to harm our business you can promote your wares over here.
