Strange game behavior while launching?

Just upgraded to 32:9 aspect

 

Strange behavior:

- game essentially feels as though it must be coerced to not crash while launching at 3840x1080, often requiring that I delete the startup config, which doesn't always work

- when this happens the display driver crashes on start, requiring hard system reset 

- when crashes occur steam often forgets the game is installed, and I must relocate the files

- when problems worked out through random startup changes and resolution changes, normal game shutdown results in restarting this troubleshooting process upon next system boot

 

does anyone know what is going on here? There seems to be no discernable pattern to what fixes the issue.  Sometimes it works, through some random change to config, then without any changes, it reverts back to driver crashing. 

 

Already tried swapping graphics drivers--not the solution.

Can you post your system specs and what drivers you have tried? Are you able to test the stability when not running at that resolution? Sounds like something wrong with the install tbh.

@Blondie, I have a 49 " monitor with a 32:9 ratio and a resolution of 3840 x 1080, a 1080ti video card, no problems.
