I just saw an aircraft explode on the ground, but the pilot just got seriously wounded

How come?
In the replay i was able to see that even though his canopy was open, he stayed inside the aircraft util the end

There is setting about how badly a player character can be wounded. I think it defaults to major wound as worst case. You can change it to be death is really death if you like or no effect at the other end of the spectrum. If you are wounded you need to take leave in the campaign - during which the campaign clock advances without you taking part.  

 

It's under the campaign preferences for each individual campaign

It is set as four, as you can see just above, one of the PE's pilots got killed when i shot his cockpit.
I knew soviet will to fight was strong, but not aircraft becoming a ball of fire and still fighting another day strong lol

Also, I'm like 90% sure that it's only for player pilot that config, but only Pat can confirm that one

That setting applies only to player pilots.  As for AI injury level, all I can say is that what's in the logs does not always match the visuals.  PWCG only knows what the logs tell it.

Alright, well thank you for the answers both of you.
No big deal about that soviet rambo, i just yeeted him editing the files.
I was just wondering why that would happen, i can send the logs if they would help in any way, i'm just not sure where would they be.
If it is a bug, at least its a known one now. Cheers
