cardboard_killer Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 [80 years ago today] "• The Vultee A-31 Vengeance has its maiden flight. Initially ordered by France in 1940, development was halted for a time until British interest in a dive bomber like the Ju-87 results in 300 being ordered late in the year. More than 1,900 will be built, but it will not see combat with American units due to USAAF preference for twin engine attack aircraft. They will be supplied to the British, Indian, Australian, Free French, and Brazilian Air Forces. - It will be very accurate as a dive bomber due to having a 0 degree angle of incidence, but that also causes it to fly with a nose up attitude, making for poor visibility forward."
