Intermittent blackouts only at certain resolutions?

Just picked up at new 32:9 AOC AG49UCX and am having a strange issue.

 

- I prefer 3840 x 1080 due to spotting 

- Monitor intermittently blacks randomly for 1-2 seconds about every 30 minutes at this 1080p resolution.

- At 5120 x 1440, the problem ceases, but again, I hate the spotting and my frames are considerably worse. 

 

Anyone have any ideas on how I might overcome this issue and play at 1080p?

 

Things I've tried:

- Driver swap

- toggling nearly every monitor display setting

- windowed vs fullscreen

- swapping my display cable, twice

- experimenting with various nvidia settings

 

None seem to stop the issue.
