Hi BladeMeister - I am interested to hear where you ended up on the 5 vs 6.  I think I am still debating.

Hi Varibraun. To qualify this reply you need to understand that I am old-ish( maturity level 22 year old) and quite stubborn and resistant to change. I am also quite reluctant to admit I was wrong until utterly proven wrong by the absolute truth. I had that bloody number 5 cam sitting right on my desk ever since I initially set up my Crosswinds and I was quite content with my number 6 cam, but I did change them to experience the difference. Now I have to admit, as bad as I don't really want to that I like the number 5 cam and even if you beat me with a stick I wouldn't change back. I blame it on those damn people that antagonized me into purchasing that damn dampener. The combination of the two is quite nice, so now I will drop back into lurking mode and be content to never change my Crosswinds again, or until.....

Thanks for the very enlightening response, I think that should help me make up my mind for good too!  My only question about the 5 was that I felt I was getting a little to much play right in the center, but I switched back to the standard spring and tightened it down a bit and that seems to have helped.  I also applied two more clicks to the damper.  Which spring are you using?

I am using the standard spring with the adjusting nut exactly in the middle of the threaded rod. Not to much spring, not to little, JJJUUUSSSTTTT right! The spring is hooked in front to the right side of the arm.  I think I am in the middle of the dampner range, or towards the lighter side. I like my peddles easy to move and I have now adjusted to the new cam quite nicely.:)

Got my new pedals installed, however now I need to come up with solution to keep the Crosswinds in place. Previously I had them mounted to just the base of a wheel stand pro, but I think the pedals would be a bit high for heels on floor leaving the Crosswinds mounted to it.

Have to head out for a while, will try and get something figured out for flying tomorrow.

I have the very same F-16 pedals from the other forum. That plus the recently added damping mod from MFG brought these to a complete new level.

I've also had the chance to try out one of the MFG early samples of rests - they are equally great option as the featured F-16 ones here. But my preference lies with the F-16 rests. Perhaps subjectively from the old Simped days. :)

Likewise, I too had to re-do my mounting as having feet on the floor vs. on the pedals changed how I use them - forces applied. My solution was to bolt them onto a two piece foldable square wooden plates. Which when not in use, fold in under the pedals themselves by 180°.

Other important changes - I've switched from CAM 5 to CAM 4 and increased the spring strength a little. With the spring on the inner notch (closer to the magnet = linear progression) they center every single time. The trick was to increase center dead zone of the yaw (rZ) axis to maximum value of 78:

The damper rotary is set to 15 clicks from lowest position. When switching to helicopter flying I simply remove the spring and increase this by 7 clicks to about 21-22 from 0.

TY;DR: both upgrades highly recommended!
