chrisnj96 Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 Hi All, Today I updated my Nvidia drivers (not sure this was the cause) and found that when i booted up IL2, the left eye in my reverb G2 has is seeing things from a different position than the right eye (right eye seems to be seeing things correctly.) Ive done a few hours of scouring the internet and cannot find anyone with a fix (found someone with a similar issue, no fix). Has anyone encountered this, let alone fixed it? The issue: Forgive me as i try to explain this... The right eye screen is acting normal. When i turn my head it acts as expected and everything looks good with movement in any direction. The Left eye however seems like it is permanently zoomed in or out slightly. It acts similarly to when you zoom in game and move your head, the head movement scale is a bit off. That is what the left eye feels like. It seems that it is in a different "position" than the right eye which acts normal. I have considered removing my left eye from my head as a last resort. Troubleshooting attempted: 1. Rolled back Nvidia drivers to previous known working (from Feb) 2. Verified game files with steam 3. Uninstalled IL2, reinstalled 4. Uninstalled both Steamvr and WMR for Steamvr 5. Uninstalled WMR on PC. 6. Verified all OC is off. 7. Yes i turned it off and back on, like so many times during various steps above.. 8. In game IPD does not help. issue doesnt seem to be IPD related. 9. I have a second PC that has a 9700k, Z390 MB, GTX 1070 in it that works just fine. I'm running out of things to try. Specs - Alienware R11 I7 10700k RTX 3080 (dell) 3200 mhz RAM (32 gb) Dell Aurora proprietary MB and bios
RAAF492SQNOz_Steve Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 Hi, I have the latest Nvidia drivers install and just did a quick VR mission (alas, it did not end well) with the G2 and do not experience this issue. Looks like you have checked most of the obvious and less obvious issues. The result with your second PC does complicate my suggestions below but I will make them anyway. Has the G2 received a knock or been dropped? Does the G2 left lens feel secure? Do you wear glasses or use optical corrective lenses while wearing the G2? Have you tried different computer USB/ Graphics ports?
chrisnj96 Posted March 22, 2021 Author Posted March 22, 2021 Steve, Big thanks for the reply and new ideas. 1. No knocks or drops for certain 2. Feels pretty secure. Equally so to the right eye. 3. I do not wear any lenses 4. Goo idea here - I tried a different port on the same GPU, all three ports actually. When I did this I tried firing up the old pc with the 1070 and had no issue. I think tomorrow, I am going to try to stick the 3080 into the old PC and see where that gets me... might rule in or out the GPU itself. It frightens me to think the issue is the 3080......
RAAF492SQNOz_Steve Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 Re: swapping GPU, has your old PC got a reasonable power supply?, the 3080 can get quite power hungry. An alternate option may be to fit the 1070 to your new PC if your old PC PSU trips out when the 3080 is fitted. OR, Are you able to record a mission and play it back and still see the issue? You could then also copy the recorded mission to your old PC and see if the issue persists or is resolved. When I do not understand an issue I keep poking until something gives me a clue so fingers crossed you get a positive result. Also, did you try this..... (Was from the same thread you linked in a previous post)
chrisnj96 Posted March 22, 2021 Author Posted March 22, 2021 (edited) I am overjoyed to inform you that it is fixed!!! WOO. So it is either the USB driver got reset when i swapped usb ports several times OR selecting "let windows decide" for the headset refresh rate.... I had tried all other WMR settings except the refresh rate (didn't realize it had a windows decide) which lead me to posting here. Thank you Steve for your suggestions which lead me to rechecking the WMR settings. Edited March 22, 2021 by chrisnj96 2

If you set the Mixed Reality Portal Tool to something other than Best Visual Quality, you will even get a weird fisheye distortion.
