Denum Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 We were discussing this on the Combat Box Discord, Is that something that 1C would be interested in? Essentially what we were thinking is taking existing maps and adding new aircraft time periods, So for example 1942-43 Eastern Lagg 3-66/66IT PE-3 A-26 Possibly P-63 or SU-2 dive bomber Yak 4 Axis are a little harder to flesh out but it gives opportunity to add a few from other nations IAR 80/81 Re 2004/2005 Stukas! G55 (might a little to new) Mc 2005 Ju88 variant Early war BoB for Normandy because channel missions. Anti shipping, escorting, the multiplayer ideas are endless for here. Allied Spitfire MK1 /MK2 Swordfish Beaufighter Blenheim French aircraft Dewonitine D520 Bloch 152 MS 406 Leo 451 Axis ME 109 B/E4/E4B Do17 CR42 MC200 G50 Just spitballing but something I'd definitely throw money at. Just opens up more opportunities on existing maps to do new things! Cheers Denum 5 2
357th_KW Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 Some sort of Western Allies bomber pack would be amazing with some combination of the following, all player flown : B-25 B-26 A-20J/K Boston III C-47 A-26 Also a mid war Channel front set: Early Spit Vb (lower boost settings) Spit Lf V Early Spit IX (round tail, Merlin 61,63,66, c wing) Early Typhoon Ib (car door style) P-47C P-38H Fw190A-2 1
DBFlyguy Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 With the devs current workload, I unfortunately don't see something like this happening anytime outside of 5 years down the road... If we ever get a flyable C-47 or B-25, count that as a miracle. It would be nice if they were to actually hire a third party like take on stuff like this though... 2

My thinking was if they offloaded this to another company like they do with the ground vehicles, Allows the team to focus on current project and would hopefully be another revenue stream for them also. 2

Yeah, I agree, that would be great if they could
Ribbon Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 IMO with the current business model it's highly unlike they can devote time and resources for those packs since every expansion also acts as standalone game (needs planeset plus map). And now with TC, FC2 and combined arms there is even less chance....just look at the BoN, 16 months since announcement and only 3 copy paste planes are out. Best i expect is filling those possibilities with collector planes. Also their approach to collector planes is to fill the existing fronts and time periods so i guess BoB and such are off the table even i'd like to see it. What would be nice is to fill in western front (BoBp, BoN) with medium bombers through collector planes. B-25 would be a game changer, i don't doubt it would sell well, alongside B25 axis could have Ju88A17 torpedo bomber (it is based on ingame existing ju88a4 so it shouldn't be much work for devs). These two birds would expand gameplay variety a lot and give whole new perspective on il2:GB.
76IAP-Black Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 Aircraft packs, i love the idea! Early planes for the east front, that would be sooo good!
JLean Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 Some food for thoughts, We would like to see more planes. That is for sure. Developing a new a plane requires a lot of resources. How much? What is a cost of developing one plane? How much sales are needed to be in break even...and even for company would be good to make some profit? No we have 51 (+ 7 the pipeline) WW2 planes and in old IL-2 with all mods it was I guess around 500+ planes and that satisfied all the dreams. I would think that about 150-200 planes would be enough to fill most of our the dreams. (Depends if we have Pacific in or out & those 4-engines) What could be the road map for this? With current speed and set up most of us will be "above the clouds" before that. How 1CGS could do it? How we in the community could help our dreams to come true to have more planes and more maps? What is bottleneck of new plane development? How many of us could could think to do a few hours of "charity work " for a good cause? JLean
Avimimus Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 So my suggestion would be to do 'anniversary edition' upgrades for each existing release... this would be accompanied by a price increase for the premium version. They would include: - 2 new flyable aircraft - 2 new AI aircraft - A campaign mode upgrade with some map tweaks, new ground objects, and new mission types On 3/22/2021 at 12:34 PM, VBF-12_KW said: Also a mid war Channel front set: Early Spit Vb (lower boost settings) Spit Lf V Early Spit IX (round tail, Merlin 61,63,66, c wing) Early Typhoon Ib (car door style) P-47C P-38H Fw190A-2 Hmm... a bomber pack is unlikely because they cost so much more to develop (and attract fewer players apparently). So I'd add the Boston III and the Do-217E to your list for 1942/1943... also the Fw-190A4 was a major bomber over the channel in 1942/1943... and the Mustang I (Allison engined like the P-40 and 4x0.50+4x0.303 or 4x20mm).
Denum Posted April 1, 2021 Author Posted April 1, 2021 (edited) I mean, I wouldn't flinch at 60$ for the aircraft pack. Based on the packages with a map being 80$ With Normandy there's quite a few potential birds they could add, new tank packs etc. Malta/Italy would also be a good one (this is more inline with adding a map) You'd have quite a few interesting allied planes to pick from, and axis also. Would hope they do this with TC2 because Puma, Stug and two Italian tanks and they're done there, for the Brits Crusader, Valentine, Churchill and the Dialmer armored car. AEC AA or Crusader AA, and do either the Wirbelwind or the 251/22 half-track Theres also the potential of Royal Navy Carriers so that could add a very fun dynamic. Just day dreaming about launching from the carrier in a stringbag and heading out to torp some ships on FVP Edited April 1, 2021 by Denum
