fiddlinjim Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 (edited) My current rig consists of a Pimax 5K+, Nvidia 1080Ti, 32 Gigs and an i7-7700K CPU. I am considering upgrading to the Nvidia 3060Ti or 3070 GPU but keeping the i7-7700K CPU. Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has made this GPU upgrade with the i7-7700K and if there was any discernible gain in clarity/FPS or any resulting problems?? SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 I had that CPU as well, it cannot run the game at Ultra Preset. However, on High Preset with a generally medium details (few reductions on graphical settings) it was fine when overclocked at 4.9GHz. Now, the new-gen can give you a performance boost, but not the 3060 in comparison to your 1080Ti. I'd recommend at least a 3070, rather a 3080. And you will indeed gain the ability to ramp the supersampling higher. What won't change are microstutters, performance-lows due to many objects, and things like that - to avoid that you'd need a CPU upgrade.
