Raketman Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 I have always been a flight sim enthousiast from the first time I played Red Baron and Aces over Europe, but after the first Il2 Sturmovik-game I kinda lost track. I've only recently rediscovered the genre and just got Battle of Bodenplatte, and this has rekindled my love for these beautiful aircraft. But I miss a physical manual, the kind the Dynamix-games had with all their extra info about the planes. Those were just awesome to read, they really complemented the game. So, are there any good books that fill this gap? I'm not looking for too much technical detail though, just a nice summary of the many different planes of the period. Jets and WW I-planes are also interesting, so if there's a good book about planes in general that's also good to know. 1

I am not a fan of encyclopedia style books. For that, I'd recommend wikipedia these days. There are a lot of books dedicated to individual a/c that are worth the cost, as well as books on development and operations. List of aircraft of World War II
unlikely_spider Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 I had a really good one as a kid that I wish I still had ☹️
busdriver Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 Perhaps Encyclopedia of Aircraft of World War II might suit your needs. I have 400+ books in my air combat library, three that I like are out of print...published by World Air Power Journal.
