Startrek66 Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 I have created a campaign that historically takes place during the start of the Barbarossa operation. I therefore selected only the aircraft that were present from both sides, excluding in particular the bf109 F4 as I fly on F2. The question is why does my I / Jg52 group still have both the F2 and the F4 model in strength if I didn't select it? . Furthermore, as the campaign continues, I see that the number of F2s available in the squadron decreases in favor of the F4 model. But I use Bom and therefore the F4 model is not available; should i also install Bos?
[808_BOB]_RlCK Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 Selecting owned planes does not mean you will only fly the selected planes. Selecting the owned planes tells the software which planes you can actually fly within the simulator and it won't allow you to fly a mission in a plane you do not own.
PatrickAWlson Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 Being honest, it is getting more and more challenging to reconcile PWCG's aircraft introduction logic with aircraft ownership. The obvious answer is own everything and you're fine ... but that is not realistic and not something that I want to impose as a condition to use PWCG. I had an idea ... the ability to convert an aircraft in the inventory to a specific type. I would just let the player pick an airplane or two or three and convert them as they liked. All within the confines of reality: aircraft introduction and withdrawal date and who it flew for. No 109s in American units. No 109Ks in 1941. That would give players the ability to manipulate inventory for their squadron. 1
[808_BOB]_RlCK Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 I normally fly with 2 - 3 buddies joining me when flying cooperatively and we like the added inventory realism. For example, we have a 109 Squadron with our 4 pilots in it. Proper names and everything. It actually adds a lot to our roleplay knowing that there are G-2s coming to our squadron, because of depot reports but we still haven't gotten them. We personally like that a lot. Regarding plane ownership, why not have the player tell PWCG which expansion/s they own? That way the software determines automatically the owned planes. It will make plane ownership easier. It's true that Collector planes will be selected separately, but having 5 large options (BoS, BoM, BoK, BoBp and BoN) seems more intuitive than having to look up what planes are included in what expansion. 1
PatrickAWlson Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 Just did something today that lets any player replace equipment in their squadron. The primary purpose is to let players continue when they fins themselves in a unit not equipped with an aircraft that they own. However, it more generic than that. You can replace any plane with any other available plane (dependent on role, nation, and date). If you want to play as the great ace with a special mount then you can do that. Whatever reason you can think of for altering your unit's inventory, you can do it. Next release. Coming soon. 1 3 1

Startrek66 Posted March 23, 2021 Author Posted March 23, 2021 Thank you. It would be useful if in the airplane menu, there was a subdivision by version of the simulator (bos, bom, BOK etc) that contains them. What do you think about it? 1

Initially I selected the bf109 f2 as I only instalated the battle of moscow. My group is the II jg52 initially composed of bf109 f4 and bf109 f2. I saw that progressively the number of f2 decreased and now after 43 missions in the group there are no more f2. How is this possible if I only selected the f2 model? Shouldn't the program always guarantee me a share of f2 being the only one I own? if I now perform a mission by necessarily selecting the f4 model I actually always fly on f2?

PWCG will continue to replace planes per its regular algorithm. I did add the ability for you to replace planes in your inventory such that you can fly F2s, however, if PWCG replaces the F2s with F4s - at the moment - you are going to have to keep changing them back to F4s. I can add a flag to planes that you add to the inventory to keep them from being replaced, but then they would never be replaced until you did so yourself. Might work.
