DBFlyguy Posted March 16, 2021 Posted March 16, 2021 I really appreciate the detail this sim gives to small but important details like proper and time period accurate pilot uniforms for the different nations and the ever growing and consistent addition of more fighter aircraft for applicable battles and the newly in progress dynamic damage visuals. I came into the Great Battles series specifically for Bodenplatte and am really looking forward to Normandy. One question/issue I have seen stated numerous times as to why we don't have any four engine bombers is due to current game engine limitations wouldn't be able to handle more than a few. Well, with Normandy on the horizon I'm wondering if there is any work to actually being done to address this? Specifically, is there work being done to update the engine so it can support larger formations? We're getting AI B-26 Marauders for Normandy and there were literally hundreds of 9th AF B-26s directly involved before, on and directly after D-Day in fairly large formations. With Bodenplatte, the actual Luftwaffe raids the release is named after included hundreds of aircraft and operation Market Garden which takes place on the same map includes hundreds of C-47s for that operation. It would be awesome if we could eventually depict larger battles to more align with the historical events being covered... Both IL1946 and CloD/Tobruk use older engines but are able to depict more historically accurate formations, hoping we eventually get there with Great Battles. 1
Jade_Monkey Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 I think the direction this is going to go in is minor manageable changes till the next engine is built. I've already read 2-3 hints about "next engine" from Jason, so clearly it's something they are considering. The timeline would be pretty long if I had to guess. 1
