MiloMorai Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 During WW2 front line soldiers, sailors and airmen modified there weapons of war. Some of these modifications could be called failures while others were so-so and others even ended up being factory produced. Some that come to mind are: - Pappy Gunn's mounting multiple .50" hmg to the nose of the A-20 - PT boat crews mounted the 37mm cannon from the P-39 to the foredeck of their boats - the Wirbelwind originated on the Eastern Front - some Spitfires were modified to carry beer kegs instead of bombs - Sherman tanks had sand bags on their glacis for extra protection What other field modifications can you all come up with.
