dburne Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 Obviously their main focus is in making VR mainstream in the social arena. https://www.roadtovr.com/oculus-quest-3-4-zuckerberg-the-information-interview Again though I will say whilst this aspect is not for me, it is a good thing for the VR industry overall. And based on what I am seeing across various forums Quest 2 is doing fairly well in the PC-VR market via Link. 1
HunDread Posted March 14, 2021 Posted March 14, 2021 I'm sorry to see they are not working on quest 5 6 7 and 8. 1
AuburnAlumni Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 (edited) Whether you "hate Facebook" or not....outside of your political views...it's pretty incredible what the FB team has achieved even with the Quest 2. The continuous improvements in the link cable stand out to me. I've had a Quest 2 since launch and the clarity and smoothness of the image using link is light years even from where it was when it was coming out of beta. It's truly impressive how miniscule the compression is using a USB connection rather than a display port. I moved from an 8700k/1080ti rig to my new 5900x/3080 and was able to push the resolution even further and it is really an incredible difference from my Rift S, Quest 1, or my OG Rift. Really excited to see what their engineers can do in the future. Edited March 20, 2021 by AuburnAlumni

However what Oculus is doing with Quest 2 is very good for the VR Industry overall, and I think we all want VR to become more and more mainstream as time goes on. It will be good for the industry and all of us VR enthusiasts. And hopefully it will help push the competition to make advancements. And I see more and more new Quest with Link users on flight and racing sim forums. Again a good thing.
