Riderocket Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 in VR the view is often too far forward and centered behind the gun sight, i would like to center the view to where the pilot head would sit naturally. in the folder "IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\LuaScripts\snapviews" there are svs files with custom views but i dont know what numbers effect what. here is an example of the bf109f4. I'm guessing the "0.000, 0.081, 0.047" is the default pilot head view? but i could be wrong. if i make them all 0 would it center the view? Spoiler
parasxosg Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 You just move your head to where you want it and press f10 this is saved as default view 1 1

It's just not perfect enough for me, it's too much guess work I think the way you are trying to do it is a little more "guesswork". I personally do the desktop method. Might take me couple of times to get it right where I want it, but once it is done it is done for that particular aircraft. From the game in 2d on desktop and in cockpit: Adjusting the default head position: 1. Ensure any head tracking software (such as TrackIR) is disabled. 2. Make sure you cockpit view is centered by pressing the numpad 5 key (Pilot head: snap position center). 3. Adjust your camera view to the left and to the right with the Delete (Move pilot head left) and the End keys (Move pilot head right), respectively. 4. Adjust your camera view forward and backward with the Insert (Move pilot head forward) and the Home keys (Move pilot head backward), respectively. 5. Adjust your camera view up and down with the Page Up (Move pilot head up) and the Page Down keys (Move pilot head down), respectively. 6. Once you are satisfied with your changes, press the F10 key (Save current corrections in head snap position). If at any time before this step you want to revert to the default head position, press the numpad 5 key. Once done I load it up in VR and check it. If I need to adjust I exit and then start it in 2d desktop mode again and rinse and repeat. Edited March 10, 2021 by dburne 1

Riderocket Posted August 24, 2021 Author Posted August 24, 2021 (edited) OK.. i found a file in the snapviews folder called "emptybot.svc" and its basically everything set to 0. which is the very center of the cockpit where the pilots head would sit. so i proceeded to copy and replace every planes default view file with the "emptybot.svc" values and Walla! all the planes are now centered perfectly in the middle behind the joystick exactly where i would want to sit. for anyone using VR who wants to fix their views feel free to try it out yourself, ill attach the snapviews folder below in a zip <IL-2 Sturmovik Game Folder>\data\LuaScripts\snapviews snapviews.7zip *Updated for version 6.002* Edited August 18 by Riderocket 5

Blitzen Posted August 25, 2021 Posted August 25, 2021 I saved Lau.scripts and tried this.It worked just fine with the Hurricane so I assume it will work just as well with other planes & fly with VR and. “Pilot in the Cockpit”mod. 1
453=Yarra Posted August 27, 2021 Posted August 27, 2021 The easiest and most accurate way is to get the view how you want is to Press f10. Note: You have to do this individually for every aircraft you fly. Once you have pressed F10, sit yourself comfortably, then press your recentre VR button, and it will then put the view to what you saved with F10. While during flight If the view starts to drift because of rapid head movements, sit still and back in your comfortable position and press the VR recentre again to go back to your required view. If the view is initially far out, you may need to carry out the reset in stages. For example, to move right back in your virtual chair, lean back, press F10 to save that view, then press recentre. Lean back again, and press F10 and then recentre. You can keep doing this until you are sitting on the tail if you like.

firdimigdi Posted August 27, 2021 Posted August 27, 2021 It does for cockpit view - the method Yarra uses is the one I've always used whenever flying a plane for the first time.
