Flying_Colander Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 Recently, the IL2 team made it possible for a good number of effects to be felt through bass shakers such as engine rumble, stalling cues, gunfire rattle and the movement of flight control surfaces. All these are terrific additions to immersion for those of us who fly with feedback or motion control rigs. Andre of SimShaker has made the most of this new telemetry information and seems willing to work with more, if new data is provided. I am trying to find out if there is enough interest to warrant bothering the very busy developers to implement one more trick: a flak strike or near by burst effect. I imagine two effects: simulating a flak burst close enough to 'rock' the aircraft and an actual hit on the aircraft. The game already produces some sort of information to register a flak hit on an aircraft which then feeds into the damage model. Maybe additional vectors such as pitch, yaw and roll might be included into this data packet? A near miss burst might have the same information only at a different 'amplitude.' As I am ignorant of the programming vocabulary, I am also ignorant of the time and cost it would take to achieve these results. Obviously they fall into the category of polishing the sim rather than breaking new ground. Given these provisos, I invite you to take the poll and see if a flak cue might be added to the long IL2 Wish List. 4 3 5
