RedKestrel Posted March 8, 2021 Posted March 8, 2021 Has anyone here had any success making DIY desk mounts for stick and throttle? I don't mind my setup but my stick setting on the desk is quite high, and I think a mount that put it and the throttle a little lower and out from the desk would let me fly more comfortably, and I could adjust my wall-mount monitor forward more for a better view. My PC is a shared resource, so I need to be able to add or remove the mounts from my desk fairly frequently. As much as I would love a dedicated sim cockpit it's also a working computer, and homework/minecraft machine. Does anyone have a design that has worked for them, adding to an existing desk?
Charlo-VRde Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 My gaming PC is also my home work PC, so I needed a solution that allows me to easily move my HOTAS out of the way when working. Thus, I've mounted my stick, throttle, and throttle quadrant onto used bookshelf speaker stands, which also have adjustable height and are easy to move out of the way in my office. The HOTAS controllers are attached to the speaker stands via heavy-duty velcro, and the speaker stand bases are weighted enough to not move as I fly (they also train me to have a lighter touch on the fighterstick). I prefer to fly with the Fighterstick between my knees, which is easily done with the speaker stand. I found each speaker stand used on Craigslist . My rudder pedals I put on a pair of stacked marble tiles beneath my desk so they are out of the way when working. The marble tiles are flush against the wall behind my desk. When it's time to fly I then slide the rudder pedals off the tiles towards me and brace them against the edge of the tiles so they don't move while flying. I then just reach over to the speaker stands and lift or slide them into place. Once I lock two of my office chair's wheels I am in my "cockpit" ? 1 1

I have the same stick and throttle, and a logitech quadrant. Maybe I could make something like that work! 1
