216th_Jordan Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 So, this is rather simple I guess, but it ain't for me: When we talk about FPS overall i get a fairly constant 40 - 50 flying near Stalingrad. When i zoom into my Instruments or zoom into a small area on the bottomside of my aircraft (topview - even with trees under it) it goes up to around 100 fps. So what i was wondering: is My graphics card the bottleneck or is it the CPU? In other words: Is the problem the rendering of graphics or is it the physics that have to be calculated by my cpu? (Or differently put: is my cpu constantly calculating everything within a certain radius around my plane and thus has a constant impact on performance?) Do some of you have knowledge about this? Thanks in advance. My rig: Intel i7 4820k @4.5 Ghz 16 Gb RAM (1600 Mhz) Asus GTX 770 2GB RAM Game settings: Ultra
Sim Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 (edited) Definitely your GPU. I have a similar CPU, but slightly less powerful 760 GTX card. I have been testing BoS with EVGA Precision combined with HWInfo to display GPU and CPU usage on-screen. When GPU usage hits 100% you will get the mentioned fps drop. CPU usage is never an issue, at least with that monster 4820k. You could get some extra frames (while staying on Ultra) by lowering anti-aliasing setting (to 2x instead of 4x for example). 216th_Jordan Posted June 5, 2014 Author Posted June 5, 2014 (edited) Hmm i thought so (and hoped...a bit ), but thanks for reassuring! However, if I recall right some people have got a lot higher FPS with the same card, so that leaves me wondering a little... Edited June 5, 2014 by Jordan
