Reinstallation Questions

Hello fellow pilots,

I have come back to fly again in this great game with some questions regarding reinstallation.

1. When i last played i had all my controls setup where i wanted them aside a few i was still tweaking,

would a reinstall overwrite an existing control scheme?

2. What are the files for the game controls, and upon uninstallation are they removed?

3. What files are actually installed when the game is installed as after uninstallation last year the missions

i created in the editor are still there, and the mods i installed as well?

4. Will the missions i created in the editor (June 2020) still work with the current version of the

game - ( i think i know this --> yes delete the cache?)

============

I made a back up of the directory as i was wondering about these very things per my questions above.

    Thanks for your support

1. A clean installation will, yes.

2. The files will still be there if you did not delete them. These are the files that save your settings;

3. All the stock game files are installed. If you do not change the default installation path, some of your files like skins and missions should still be there but I would not count on it. I do backups of the entire game directory before an update.

4. Yes and no. You have to resave them in the current version. Look it up on the Mission Builder forum, there are 5 or 6 threads on resaving old missions. There is a utility in the ME for that.

Thanks Jaegermeister for your reply and answers, good thing i backed up the directory before installation then.

I will look into those threads on the mission building forum for resaving old missions, thanks again!

When I went to install Il-2 today, an error popped up:

  1. “Microsoft .NET Framework 4 is already a part of this operating system. You do not need to install Framework 4 to redistribute.

  2. Same or higher version of .NET Framework 4 has already been installed on this computer. Appvalley

According to the pop-up, installation will not occur. How do I fix this Tweakbox

I think it just means that the .Net framework installation will not occur. The rest of the install should proceed as normal.

What i found was to delete the msnbin file of the mission, and then reopen the mission in the editor and resave it

from there it would update it to the new/latest version of the game, Found and opened and played ingame np.

Yes, you can do it that way one at a time, or you can resave the entire folder with the utility in the ME. Both ways work.
