Hello Kurtz, i have the download path, in HSD, set to a "Skins" folder on my Desktop and insert them manually in the game. That´s not intended from HSD, but i like to put them in manually. Also You can see if the skin Downloaded correctly.

Nothing to do, I tried downloading in a different folder, program says skin downloaded, owned, etc, but nothing appears inside the folder. Here a screen of HSD, all looks ok:

MAJOR HSD UPDATE!!!! Introducing the FULL EDIT FUNCTION!

HSD V2.0.3.42 has been released

This update introduces the full edit function in the Edit tab. This allows you to easily replace DDS files, add a second version of a skin, replace JPG files, and update text information.

Changing a skin name, artist or vehicle will still require a full deletion of the skin.

Of course, there are many more updates which you can read in the update log:

My antivirus says that HSD isn't trusted.  I thought that it was trusted before when I first installed it.  What's going on?

It's a false positive.

If I hadn’t said so before this is the greatest add-on ever made for this game. Bravo!

Just a question on the proper formatting that maybe I missed on my read-through.

If I make a historical skin, I'll usually have the one with the real aircraft numbers, or at least as close as I can get them, and then usually an un-numbered version for people who might want to use the custom numbers. Should I upload that as a 2-pack skin, or upload it as two separate skins in the distinct categories?

Really love this tool! It makes the addiction to collecting skins much easier to sustain! 😄

Hello Hank,

You should upload them as 2 separate skins with one set to "Historical" and the other set to "Generic". Generic is for skins that work with the ingame tactical codes.

It is not possible to put them in a 2-pack for such version distinction. Only censored and uncensored versions can be combined into a single upload.

You can of course put them in a larger IL-2 group or Skin pack as you desire.

Happy to hear you love it!

Perfect! Thank you! I assumed as much and just did that, so I'm glad I guessed right on that one.

Does the skins get applied to AI in career mode?

Well, HSD has stopped working.
I boot it up, "downloading skin previews", it says, gets a bit in and then resets to zero.
I've tried deleting the database but no, it doesn't fix the error. I've also uninstalled HSD and then reinstalled the latest version, downloaded via Discord. Same error every time....

Hello Dick, that is unfortunate.

Few things to check:

What is the installation folder path of your HSD install? If it's in the "C:\Program Files (x86)\" folder, then that could also explain the issue. HSD doesn't work when installed in that folder.

Are you by any chance running a VPN? Maybe worth trying it with the VPN enabled and disabled to see if that works.

Hello everyone!

We have added the Flying Circus Vol.4 aircraft to HSD, allowing you to upload new skins for these aircraft right away.

You have already uploaded over 13.5k skins to HSD and we are looking forward to the new skins and artwork you are able to create for the new FC V4 aircraft as well as all other pre-existing vehicles. Would it be possible to surpass 15k skins in 2025??

We wish you all fun and safe new years celebration and wish you a happy 2025!

The HSD team!

The issue I have is that I'm looking for historic, generic skins.  Historic squadron badges, markings (like painted noses, etc.), or serial numbers are okay, but I want to use the tactical codes system.  When I search for generic skins I get about 90% skins with no tactical codes, but with online squadron symbols on the skin.  Not what I consider generic and not historic.  When I search for historic skins I get the skins with historic tactical codes, aces specific markings, nose art, etc.  So, I can't use either.  I would like to see a separate category for online squadron skins so that they are not posting in the generic category.  Other than that issue this is a great asset to the sim, but I'm restricted to searching through the forums for historic, generic skins, which don't appear to be the trend these days since the tactical code is no longer a new thing.

You should be able to manually make a shortcut

Go to your HSD.exe and right-click on it. You should see an option called "Create shortcut". It will make a shortcut right next to your HSD.exe. You can move that shortcut to wherever you want, including your desktop.

Hope that helps.
