Looks good. Looks very similar to their throttle base.

What I'd like to see from Virpil, is a shorter, more compact version of the T50. Alpha looks really good and compact. I don't know why they made the T50 so big.

All 4 of the winners of the control panel design competition had more than 1 axis lever, 2 with 2 levers and 2 with 4 levers.  So far they have introduced 2 control panels, 1 with no axis lever and 1 with only 1 lever.  Why ask us?

Yeah that is one thing for sure, one can never have too many axis.

They realized that having so many axis on this panel, will cut down on the number of throttles they could sell. A panel like this, with three- four axis could easily replace the throttle.

On the web store the throttle says "back ordered" though? I've never ordered from Virpil before so I'm not familiar with their restock schedules however. It seems in the current environment that they would not have difficulty selling them if they were actually available.

One of my great fears is my Warthog throttle biting the dust, due to the apparent impossibility of replacing it at the moment.

The problem is their throttles do not have enough to cover the needs.  Having a separate CP with levers to assign flaps, mixture, rads, etc. to would be a bonus to sims.  There are other "garage" shops selling this type of equipment.  I think just the opposite, by not having more axis on the CPs, they are losing sales.

Which options are there for someone looking for a good quality to throttle nowadays? I'm not always sure I know of all the options - for example searching for the items on Google does not necessarily get you to VKB or Virpil unless you know to browse to their stores directly.

I really like my new Virpil CM 3 Throttle.

I still do not use all the available buttons on it.

GVL224 ?

The bonus of buying something from him is that you can get exactly what you want.

That one looks nice. It says they are back ordered though.

Well those look awesome. I wonder if there are any issues with being recognized across the multiple sims I spend time in?

I got two devices from GLV

One connected to my vintage throttle

And one radiator trim unit.

Yeah they process and ship per order.

They seem to run around a couple of weeks processing, and then getting ready for shipment and transit time, probably looking around 4 weeks overall.

Meh, no ww2 stick and throttle as vkb(throttle)

I prefer the modern perfected ergonomics vs  "throw everything all over the cockpit" and hope for the best" ww2 "style".

And the problem is that ww2 planes controls varied a lot. All they had in common was stick and rudder or yoke. Everything else was different from plane to plane, company to company, country to country.

Another point is that we fly a lot of different aircraft and the controls wouldn't match our ride anyway.

Any ww2 style is fine for me, american stick, german stick, russian stick. But for some reason the market like the modern stick more than vintage sticks, I understand that modern combat flight sim are more popular but virpil should have their own ww2 stick just to cover what vkb covers partially, a ww2 good quality at least.

I like the look of some of the ww2 sticks, but they have just too limited functionality. Most ww2 sticks had like, two, three buttons. The biggest part of the design and testing work goes into the main axis of the controllers. That's where the high price comes from.

To go through all that, charge as much as you need to cover the cost of good electronics and strong mechanical construction, and only offer the customer two buttons is not gonna help you sell enough units to pay for the tools.

I have many more hours in vintage planes than modern. But modern sticks are so much more versatile than replica vintage sticks. Without an entire cockpit replicated, I'm not sure how I would manage things like trim, radiator settings, radio, weapon systems settings, etc without all the extra buttons you get with modern sticks/throttle. Especially since I'm in VR these days and like to avoid having to use the kb for anything. And it's not like WW2 aviators had a keyboard available either.

Yeah I am with you there, even with the more modern jets I get everything I need to buttons on HOTAS. Trying to use keyboard is a big no no for me.

Looks interesting. I have their first throttle which I still love.

The one thing I noticed is they have the encoders as trim. Their encoders are pretty useless, i wish they woked better.

I was concerned about that too, but for mine it actually took less than 3 weeks from order to arrival despite the backordered status.  After flying with it this weekend, I was so happy I just ordered a Virpil base too.  If you haven't seen it, check out this thread regarding shipping experiences and impressions:

Tempting. Very tempting...

Just not sure I would really need this to compliment my CM3 throttle as I already have so many buttons available on it now.

And I would want a new Virpil Mount to mount it just above and behind the CM3 most likely which would certainly increase the cost.

Plus in VR I require using muscle memory and I only have so much memory these days.

That gear lever is pretty sexy also.

Sheese I really need to stop reading up and watching vids of new hardware. They should put warning labels on them lol.

Yeah same here. I've been circling around this but I'm unable to really justify it.

I have no need for it and have all the buttons I need. I would also require a new mount and it's a huge hassle on top of the cost.

It just looks so cool.

I'll wait till I have a mini-simpit sometime down the road.
