[DBS]Browning Posted March 2, 2021 Posted March 2, 2021 I was flying on Finnish today in the FW-190A8 and some guy was flying as my wingman in the A6. We spotted a P-47 over 100km from any airbase. The 47 didn't spot us on his 6 and he had a full loadout of bombs and rockets. Being a little faster in the A8 than my subordinate in the A6, I caught up to the 47 first. I could have simply unloaded on his six, but I thought I'd pull up in formation on his wing to see what he would do. After all, a 47 near the deck with a heavy loadout is no threat to two 190s and my underling in the A6 was less than a kilometre behind. To my surprise, upon spotting me matching speed a few meters from his right wing, the P47 popped his canopy and bailed out over the water. I suppose I must have looked scary! 1 20
6FG_Big_Al Posted March 2, 2021 Posted March 2, 2021 Sounds like an incredible story with a mysterious wingman that has a really good taste regarding his aircraft choice 1 3
69th_Panp Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 Well ! When you look over there and see something that ugly, you have to take the quickest way out, and no I was not talking about the aircraft ?

CSW_Tommy544 Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 Sounds cool, but don't underestimate the Jug! I am sure it could still make you run for your money being flown by some good hands. ?
TWC_Ace Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 (edited) I miss chivarly from old IL2 46 days. I do it from time to time even here. That could be more fun than actually killing and spawning all the time. Few weeks ago I let the bomber ditch to field and didnt shoot anymore so he can survive. I got an salute from the guy. I dont care about stats, never did (online wars as esxceptions becasue of its nature). Unfortunately most ppl are playing this like Call of duty in the air with some online wars/missions (one life rule) as exceptions. It gets boring playing every day the same shite "spawn, fly few mins, kill or be kllled and respawn." Again, and again and again. Every server is like that with Combatbox being a bit different because of distant bases and mission settings....but still...first time in 20 years Im kinda fed up with everything and only my team mates still holding me here. BlitzPig_EL Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 The 47 should have pulled up and over and pickled off all his bombs on you. That's what I would have done. 1

SShrike Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 Yes. I am still surprised when after a good dogfight, being bested and damaged, trying to belly land in an open field, to have your opponent strafe you as you slide along the grass. I think, “ Why? He already got me!”
CAFulcrum Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 This thread is kind of funny, I'm much more used to people viciously complaining about this sort of behavior as a form of 'kill denying' rather than a moment of triumph!

Yeah, every time I think "Well since it look like it's just me and this guy in the open skies, I'll wait until after the merge to shoot so we can have a good fight!" I get a face full of lead. 1
