i bought the il-2 BOS so i can play tank crew

maybe my expectation was too big IDK

but for the price i spent around 100$ total

i never bought the game whcih cost up above 60$

but i did for this one

because i'm a ww2 tank fanatic

and i played il-2 back in the 2000

and i knew they make great games

so i give it a shot

it's ..... ha~

yes still it is the best ww2 tank simulator out there for now

but i think devs could bring so much more with that kind of price

i know the sim world are weird in terms of it's ridiculously high price tag(look at [edited] DCS lmao)

i used to play Red Orchestra1 DH mod,RO2 ,post scriptum ETC

but i don't see any big difference

sometimes it's worse than those

c'mon the game is totally dedicated to "tank"

there's no animation for moving parts

ricochets effects looks like as if it's made in 2004

i was expecting exetremely detailed tank combat

let alone those things

there are too little content to play

and yeah maybe my expectation was too high

i'd never recommend this product to anyone for the current stage of the game

especially with that kind of price tag

BTW the most desired thing i want to see in this game is infantry

i don't expect any kind of super smart infantry

this game is set around kursk(i know it's specifically about prokhorovka and there was hardly no inf)

i would love to see massive inf charging with the tank platoon

Sorry its not for you, seems your looking for a perfect game right out of the box. I have tried many different flight sims and other types.  But for the money looks good to me.

Infantry is coming in a future update.

I’m not sure what you mean by there being no animation for moving parts, though?

i mean the crews inside tank has no animation

for ex: there's no loading animation for loader or gunner traversing the turret ETC

Yeah I know what you mean, the whole thing fell apart for me when I discovered there was no animation for the loader, but I'm not so sure your suggestion that there were little to no foot soldiers at the battle of Prokhorovka is correct.

That with an engine that was designed for air combat, specifically WW2 air. Yet we get really good WWI air combat (I have experience with another WW2 flight sim, two actually, that had WW1 aircraft modded in but the AI could not effectively fly them), and now we have tank combat.

Look on this as a proof of concept, the beginning of development, not the finished product. I understand this was a side project by enthusiasts within the company, without much in the way of resources. Yet, look what they delivered. And now that it's a sold project, it will gain more resources in development, there will be more features.

A lot of people look forward to infantry being added in some form or another.

I'd like to see weather effects intensified from something that works in a flight sim (you don't need intense weather, that grounds planes) to something tankers experienced. lightening, fog, heavy smoke...

I hope that the Normandy map is configured for tank combat the way Prokhorovka's was. By the way, destructible buildings, trees that can be pushed over... They're already tweaking older maps to make them friendlier to tanks...

So,  hang in there, this is not the end state. There is more coming. They haven't announced much, I look forward to hearing what the future holds.

but i researched again and yes there was an infantry in this combat

Well I hate to suggest you spend even more money, but if you want a better ground/armor experience you should buy Tank Crew.

WTH lol i didn't know i could log in this website with the il-2 official website ID

BTW what do you mean

i already own the tank crew

Yeah, considering the cost its a letdown. I just bought it to support the devs, but it feels more like a tech demo than a sim. Given that Infantry was integral to tank operations, the total lack of anti-tank activity, ditches, IEDs, molotov's.... its just a teaser.

I don't know, the last update 4.506 was decent and I thought it gave some insight into the direction of things to come. I am very happy to see that they are making progress in what appears to be a healthy push to update the game world itself in addition to all the new planes/vehicles/maps.

He said that tank players is their fastest growing demographic, so more tanks and tank development seems likely.

i was the one who posted the thread "i just bought tank crew and quite disspointed"

but as i play it more and more

i just discovered there are incredible amount of detail for each tank in this game

especially in terms of "how realistically each tank behave"

the frame(point of view) i had when i judge this sim as not worth for it's price was by focusing on the graphic part(shell ricochet VFX) and gammy mechanics(not having infantry)

poor depiction of combat ETC

but as i look it as a vehicle simulation (not as a combat sim)

the price was worth it

god damn it

the welded part of the tank and how tank behaves according to the physics

really amazed me

but i don't think dev's are marketing this well enough

especially where this game really shines

for ex: look at the trailer of this game

it only shows the combat part

you gotta let the player know where this game really shines

and what it's all about

that's part of the game (for ex: stationary note)

just think about it if there's no stationary notes for each tank even if you accurately modeled every single part of the tank

no ones gonna know unless you were a driver or a crew for that tank in real life

along this line

what i want to suggest for this game is

visual representation of ballistics

i'm pretty sure dev's integrated the realistic ballistic physics in to the game

then let us know by giving some option to see it

for ex: ability to see each of the shells trejectory represented as a traced line

and also i really hope the devs to improve the texture quality of interior of the tank

BTW i have no complain over exterior looks of the tank it looks fuckin amazing

but can we get that kind of quality also in the interior side of tank plz

Oh, I didn't mean to be critical, but that's not the kind of thing I was looking for. I was thinking more of, will we get collector tanks soon? Is the Normandy map friendly to tank engagements, and will we get American tanks? Will the next release, whatever it is, focus instead on fleshing out the Russian front tank selection? Light tanks? And I mean this not critically, but as a fan who's eager to see what comes next.

What I DID get from that update is the level of detail the developers are putting in to IL-2 in general, detail which will be reflected in upcoming releases for Flying Circus and Tank Crew as well. That detail bodes very well for the future of Tank Crew. I think that's what ChampagneStars is getting at, other criticisms aside the detail of the tanks is incredible.

I look at this first release as a 'proof of concept'. Who knew that the engine of a very detailed flight simulator could be used, seamlessly, in a tank sim, in a way that the two could run in multiplayer at the same time? One player flies an IL-2 Sturmovik while another mans an AA-truck to defend yet another in a tank?

And as I play the scripted campaigns, it's easy to see that the 'proof of concept' was a brilliant success.

So, the inevitable question is "what's next?", even as the fans advocate for their particular preferred addition.

Ultimately, all I can do is wait for the developers to tell me, and I'm fine with whatever that is. They did with the announcement of Flying Circus 2 (I'm a big fan of FC 1 as well), and they will I'm sure with TC 2.

Given their focus on detail, I'm sure it will be fine.

I think constructive criticism is health, so we are all good.

In terms of the Normandy map, I am not expecting to see any tanks being released with it. I would think that we will be able to drive the tanks we already have on the Normandy map like on all the other maps. Considering the increased detail on the Normandy map though, I am not sure what that is going to mean for MP game play with both planes and tanks at the same time.

In terms of TC2, I am not really expecting them to announce anything this year given all the other projects they already have going, but what we might hear about is more collector vehicles once the AAA trucks are done. They are being pretty tight lipped on what to expect from the collector vehicle concept, but it doesn't take too much imagination to see how additional tanks could help as a stopgap to promote continued growth without having to announce a TC2.

If I understand the recent announcements, in addition to the Normandy map/planes/AAA trucks, we can expect to see more improvements in the game world itself, and I think that is a real good thing.

For what it matters, the real plus of TC is enjoying all the nice terrains in BoX. A thing one easily misses looking down from a plane ..

Is this confirmed by the devs or just conjecture? Very good news if its confirmed because the sim really need infantry.

Yes it has been stated multiple times. Here is one place where you can find it.

"And we are still working on battlefield infantry for Tank Crew"

DVD  is basically just 'eye candy'. Let's hope it doesn't put much drain upon our systems graphic cards and or GPUs.

Amazing, really good news. Tank Crew is already lightyears ahead in some areas and this will do so much to create a more complete battlefield experience.

The basic mechanics for infantry are already on the flight side of the sim.  You can add scripted "ground personnel" walking around the ramp areas of airfields.  They are purely eye candy, and do nothing but stroll around, and on occasion will blindly walk into rotating propellers, always cause for hilarity on comms when we are forming up for takeoff.
