The Worst of Gaming

It was inevitable. The lowly of the lowly would eventually show up and game the game. Unskilled pilots endlessly raping and vulching. It's not that big of a deal, the solution is simply to air start but that almost feels like cheating in a game such as this. There needs to be a ground start further afield from the combat zone so altitude can be attained (good for bombers too) and there is a little more randomness for the vulchers to have to choose between. Don't have to expand the borders and alter the data the Dev's are collecting. Just add an airfield for a second ground start.

I got gamed twice today as well. I stopped paying attention to the borders of the map. A player (no names, you no good son of a snuffalupagus) led me to the edge of the map where the AI took over then tried to bounce me as the AI led me back onto the map. I would have thought this was a lucky happenstance except the same player then did the following: He led me on a VERY long chase back near his airstart, left the server, then reappeared with altitude when he rejoined at the airstart almost instantly. I countered by leaving the server and rejoined behind my own lines. He made me game the game and I feel shame. There should be a longer delay between leaving the server and rejoining.

Just a couple of exploits I haven't seen before.

I agree. The airfields must be further away.. but you know. This game is still at 51%   :)

It's not the worst of anything.  It's just a test server.

Maybe there should be Flak, triple A or DCA near de airfields and plenty of light one?!

HATE HATE HATE the vultures. You wonder why they even sign on in the first place if they don't want to dogfight.

Just a figure of speech. A bit tongue in cheek even. More concerned about the exploit mentioned in the second paragraph. Although, vultures do suck.

"I agree. The airfields must be further away.. but you know. This game is still at 51%"

I realize it is only 51% but adding another airfield within the boundaries would lessen the likelyhood of the vultures and make ground starts away from the front possible better for the bombers as well. About equidistant from the forward base as the airstart but off by a few degrees/kilometers. I don't think it would change anything the Dev's are attempting to do within the confines of the current map.

Test server.  They want people to do things that you don't normally see.  That's the entire point of testing.  They want people attacking the field.  They want people flying off the edge of the map.  It's all part of testing.

Just sounds like any game where there is no objective other than to shoot each other.

I hate deathmatch. It brings out the worst in people.

Give people objectives and good incentives to play cooperatively, and stick to 'the rules' and everyone has a better experience.

Quite. The underlying problem is the death-match style.

Nothing to do with whether or not it's a test server.

It's set up as a dogfight server.

This kind of behaviour will be prevalent in many dogfight servers when the game's released too.

Yes, it probably will happen on similar servers when the game is released.  Do you think there is anyone who isn't aware of that?

But right now it's just a test server, and they probably want us to be doing all that silly crap.

Another day of bitching when the game is 51%

Because it's much better to destroy enemy air assets on the ground than in the air.

Unskilled is unskilled. Do it in an IL2 and I'd have no complaints. Do it in a Yak and I'll just airstart and hunt you down.

We, however, are missing the main point of the second OP paragraph.

"   Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, it was just some "no good son of a snuffalupagus" working the game.

I bet my good hat that the artillery and tank units near the airfield will factor in as some sort of objective for the teams to destroy.

I never understood why an individual on a public server cannot be named on a public forum which is dedicated to discussing that server...

It may be shocking, but fighters were used for ground attack.

Really.

I mention this because I know where this thread is heading.

It will end up with someone proposing a set of daft rules about only attacking ground targets with bombs or rockets, or making home fields "off limits"

or other such "gamey" solutions.

So, your field is constantly being attacked?

Defend it and stop bitching.

That just means you don't have to go looking all over for the enemy.   Roll with the circumstances, and make the best of it, better yet, organize and fly to their field and mop them up.

Just don't whine about it, because this had been covered a million times in every sim that ever was, and it's never going to change, ever.

Lets ask the Dev. to build a class dome around the airfield to protect pilots that NEED to take off in comfort. Like in real life.

Yes!

Guys, just chill out.It is not dogfight server, nor it is coop server or any other full real server. It is TESTING server. There are no rules, you are supposed to fly and die, contribute to testing. If you do not like it,then do not participate.Wait for release of standard servers with actual missions and their respective goals.

Untill then it is just another "Much Ado about Nothing"

It is just beta. All different player types are on the same server. For now I just would relax a bit more and keep a cool head. Once the game rolled out and all the different private servers are up an running you can keep all non wanted elements away from your servers and play the game you want to.

One side note:

Personally I love vulching, though only against AI as I play coops normally. I see it as a valid tool to achieve air supremacy in war which it has been historically.

PvP though as usual brings up all the emotions.

(Maybe it would be helpful to introduce a tiny temp ban so noone can imideatly post on the forum after playing on a dogfight server for 1 hour or so ;). )

cheers,

Dag

No one is bitching. I said as much in the OP and specifically didn't make it personal. I believe I offered two solutions, one existing; airstart, and one alternative; second ground start to the rear. I have no problem with ITS BETA!!!!!!, ITS 51%, or anything else that's happening. I was more concerned about other aspects of gaming the game. So, I suggest we all RELAX and chill together.

The most likely solution appears to be "get over it".

I was playing last night and I usually fly the Russian planes, anyway I came across what i thought was a stuka, well it was a yak with flaps and gear down turning like a maniac! Lol still shot him down twice but should not have been able to fly like it was.. Advantage? Nah I don't think so, just someone trying to get an upper hand by using glitches, remember it didn't fair to well for him......

Posted

Stop victimizing yourself please, we all get your need for attention.

Glitch / exploit / hack existed long before pacman came out, they tend to get ruled out eventually.

Developer (which are doing an outstanding job here btw) do make choice you might not like, but wait for the game to be finished before judging.

Player do some vulching sometimes (I know I do, and most of the time It's a strategical necessities or just a bombing run...), it's not unrealistic, nor unfair-play.

In this thread: bad pilots who can't win an equal-energy fight.

I always go air-start, but when someone else is spawn camping so much that people start leaving the server, on my team or the enemy's, it starts to piss me off, and our 4v4 turns into a 3v1 which is just not fun.

But hey, it's not like this is a video game you play for FUN or anything

If AA could shutdown enemy plain over airfields there wouldn't be problem with vulching. AA is useless right now.

Weird how there are so many replies in this thread talking about vulching, when vulching wasn't really the point of the topic.

It was the OPs first gripe though.
Posted (edited)

Vulching and shot down planes at landing was a common practice in war, only  Historical realism,  :)

At the end of the war think the 40 percent of the Luftwaffe was lost under these conditions.

Borderless maps is also a cheat, At  " online wars "  , In the past I  flew often out of the map border to reach the target without problems, and drop my bombs.

The map is small, an is  dogfight map, It Should be taken as a  "  hot training dogfight " against humans to Improve your abilities in extreme situations, . and wait for the next generation of private servers, I think we will have plenty of choices and servers at the future.

I was a pilot at a Spit vs 109 , But RoF servers have triggers, as example " destroy  trains and not have supplies on Map ",  at BoS for sure will have triggers at servers.

To the OP, what exactly do you expect to happen in an tiny area airquake server?

Until the full map is available online, and there are missions with actual objectives i won't bother at all.

Defend it and stop bitching.

When I read this your whole argument went right out of the window.

One should be able to recognize the difference between genders.

No one knows how you speak to your woman.

But I will say you really shouldn't speak to another man like that.

Ah, a political correctness lecture, in a forum about a simulation of blowing our fellow man out of the sky in little flaming pieces.

Gotta love it.

Now back to the thread...

The OP's points about gaming the "out of bounds" protocol are just fine, and well founded.

Also, I feel the whole idea of the hand of god pushing your plane back into the map area just reeks of FPS tunnel shooter, but then so do unlocks, and the sim has those as well.

It's why I am on the sidelines, with a large number of other veteran players, waiting to see how this whole thing works out, before throwing money at it.

And for crying out loud, get on comms and get organized and deal with the "bad actors" with the tools you have at hand.  To wit:  1000bhp+ fighting machines armed with automatic weapons.

Single out the FPS kiddies who came here only to grief, make their time in game as miserable as you can.  They will get bored of being bested by good, organized players and go back to whatever bunny hopping, wall hacking,

cookie cutter format FPS they came from.

You were called on  the disrespect that you showed the op.

Nothing to do with politics. Just with a bad attitude that was displayed at your end.

Pm me if you would like to carry on.
