Gonna get a lot of flak,

Nothing against old cars, they're cool and classy, but having electronics in the car ain't that bad. I'm not talking about stability control crap, but things like ECM, variable valve timing, boost control, etc. Everything that allow you to gain more performance.

Not to mention that every damn car is rolling software now...I hate it. That is a major "uncooling" factor.

Car not running right? Good luck, and hope it's throwing a code. If not, good luck figuring out that it's the damn crank sensor or some crap causing the engine to stop.

25 years from now having a drivable "classic" 2020 Charger"  as an example will be next to impossible due to this factor.

Of course going anywhere assumes your papers are in order for the checkpoints etc, and who wants to hassle with that anyway.

?

Love the song, but I also love driving my fully electric car nowadays ?

That song was the first "VR" experience.

Thanks, it was burnt up when I bought it. I stripped it to the frame and built it basically from scratch. Just the engine, frame and front suspension is original. Also the rear fender, but that's seriously chopped up.

As soon the weather gets nice, I'm taking it up to the mountains and get it very dirty.

Nice bike... I like those, even if they are British.

2008 Ducati S4RS tricolore was my prized possession for years. I displayed it under lights in an alcove off my living room. Finally sold it because I rarely rode it.....I miss it every day.

I miss my YZ250.

Just can’t justify 7k on a toy these days - I’ll have to content with my fat bike.

It’s all additional points of failure - and they do fail. Then there’s no recourse but a trip to the mechanic.

Yeah it’s all great until you have to work on it.

When I was a lad the main tool was 7/16-1/2 spanner. Now its a laptop :(

I've built up plenty of electronic engines for race bikes, small race cars, hobby cars n such. Heck, I even built and programmed my own ECU (Mega-squirt) but now I have a '68 beetle with a flat four that has exactly 4 wires connected to it and I couldn't be happier. I intend to put the same powerplant in the Spyder.

Computers ruined cars, (ruined combat aircraft too, just to keep it mildly on topic)

From my personal experience and from people around me, if it's a Japanese car in most cases it's pretty reliable and easy to work on. And I'm not talking about daily driving, but tracking it as well. Most failures are due to the owner's fault, be it inadequate maintenance, negligence, etc.

Does it work with IL2?

I’ll find out later tonight or this weekend, but I believe so. I was inspired by this thread:

Uuuuh... was there a topic? Something about the things we get cr@p about from the wife? Spending money, or time in the garage, or driving sportscars and riding motorcycles? I think that's all on topic.

We may catch some Flak

For the things we like to do

"Oh boy.  Gamit you need an understanding with your CFO.  I would go into details but my CFO and I each have our own accounts to spend as we wish.";)

And that, my friends, is "the ONLY way to fly."

Ha - not workable over here.

Her habits are largely the reason we’re in the (good) position that were in. Plus years of taking a hit to her own finances when I was getting hit with child-support. So the lesson is, life isn’t always so simple. ;)

Retard! Retard! Retard!

It's a shame their Airbus stick isn't quite like the real thing - but then again, the real thing has viscous dampers and all kinds of interesting stuff which cannot be recreated for an affordable desktop joystick.

FWIW: The real deal is surprisingly close to the Warthog stick in terms of haptics and size. The breakout-force is actually less.

It should serve me well next to the VKB stick. I’ll remove the detente. I’m saving my Saitek Cyborg base since I can use the two small throttle levers for radiators + more buttons.

Let me/us know what you think of the VKB stick.  I admit I am curious about it.  I'm still using the CH set up from the old days.

I went from the CH Products stick to the VKB NXT. It's a big upgrade in my opinion. Two notes though:

-The springs are much stiffer than the CH Products stick. I think they feel a lot better, but I decided to get a desk mount due to that. There are three sets of springs though, so the lighter ones may be more comparable. I'm using the default ones.

-I liked the thumb rocker switch feel on the CH Products stick over the VKB one. But that's about it.

I'm very happy with the change overall. The tighter feel makes it seem like my movements are more intentional and more precise.
