pencon Posted February 18, 2021 Posted February 18, 2021 Can I buy the G Late version separately without buying Normandy ? In the Collector planes section in the store , it just says G6 .
Jade_Monkey Posted February 19, 2021 Posted February 19, 2021 The G6 late is a core Normandy plane, so you won't be able to buy it individually. The G6 in the collector plane section of the store is the "early" (?) version, which lacks the Mw50 and Erla canopy options among other things. Roughly speaking, the G6 Late is closer to the G14 from BOBP.
pencon Posted February 19, 2021 Author Posted February 19, 2021 Well thats too bad , its the only plane I actually want from the Normandy installation . 1

ACG_Bobo Posted February 19, 2021 Posted February 19, 2021 You don't know how much you wanted the 190 A6 'till it's in your stable. 1

Nah, the regular G-6 is a slug compared to the Late with the boost. I had to fly a few sorties in the opening phase of Bodenplatte using only the plain G-6 because I don't have the Late yet. I was routinely left in the dust by Spitfire IXs. It wasn't an intolerable disadvantage, but it was noticeable compared to when I upgraded to the G-14. I've also found, in limited experience, the AI-piloted G-6 Late to be a tougher opponent than the G-14. Not by a wide margin, but the tighter turn ability makes it more annoying to catch.

People like and want planes for different reasons. For you, it's clearly performance. For other's it's the history.

It's a balance between the plain G-6 (which represents the pinnacle of mid-war 109 design) and the later Gs and K series. The Late is, arguably, the best of both worlds, when late-war design compromises hadn't impacted the 109's tiny airframe quite as much. The Late's a bit slower than the fastest 109s, but also a bit more nimble. Since I'm a careerist, I'll be wanting Normandy for the extra career opportunities alone. There's not enough time to fly the Late in Bodenplatte, and thereby enjoy it.
Angry_Kitten Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 I like the loadouts on the G and K, the Dora is still a cute one. But my favorite is still the 202 for overall enjoyment. BUT i cannot deny slapping on the assault strike armor and machine gunning down b25 after b25 is FUN
