Jonathan1321 Posted February 17, 2021 Posted February 17, 2021 Hi all Very happy with my VR Experience - I have used some of the recommended settings provided here for spotting/performance which is great. My issue is that for the life of me I have no idea if its friend or foe unless I am practically on top of them. Any advice for a new rookie. Thanks

Without experience, ID-ing is difficult in 2d as well. High resolution helps of course but first you need the basics. Try id-ing based on the silhouettes. German fighters are usually narrower especially the wings. Soviet fighters have wider wings. Also Axis usually have yellow-ish tracers while Allies have red-ish tracers. The whole thing is easier in earlier scenarios where it is German vs Soviet. It's getting harder in later scenarios where a lot western planes enter the scene making it a little bit confusing. And situational awareness helps a lot like in these examples - A smoking plane going towards enemy bases - probably enemy - Bomber over your faction's facilities - probably enemy - Plane over you faction's facilities chased by smoke puffs (AA fire) - enemy - A group of planes approaching your faction's facilities from the direction of enemy bases - probably enemy - etc.. So it's essential to always know your direction and the direction of home and enemy bases. Interestingly my situational awareness has always been better on no-GPS servers probably because I am forced to know the surroundings (close and far) around me.
