Remaining IPD/World Scale issues

Reverb G2

Is anyone else struggling with eye strain from the "IPD offset" settings? For me, the scale is off at 0 but is good at about -0.18. Unfortunately, the convergence is way off now and I get nasty eye strain.

The very useful VREM mod has a different IPD scaling method which works perfectly! The scale is exactly where I want it with my natural IPD and no eye strain. But it too has some issues where I have to turn shadows off because they converge at a different angle to the IPD convergence.

So my options are:

- play in a tiny world,

- play with a normal sized world and get bad eye strain

- play with a normal sized world with no shadows

Ideally, whatever is causing the issues with the standard IPD offset settings could be resolved by doing it the way VREM mod does it, but that's probably asking a bit much. Attempts at "tricking" IL-2 into thinking I have a smaller IPD via SteamVR settings has proven fruitless because with a Reverb, everything goes through WMR which doesn't have any such settings to play with. For interests sake, perhaps someone smarter than me might be able to describe how VREM and the games IPD settings actually work since they are doing the same thing in different ways?

Anyway, apart from this clingy issue, my overall experience with IL-2 and VR has been great! I would really struggle going back to a flat screen and TrackIR. It's just amazing!

Thanks in advance!

The built-in IPD adjustment is not for helmets like G2, which has a physical slider. IL2 should read it correctly from SteamVR, which in turn takes it from WMR.

Now the bigger question is that IL2 ignores SteamVR ipdOffset value!! My actual IPD is 70mm, outside the G2 range. In my setup.cfg I always see or_ipd = 0.068 whatever offset I give to SteamVR. I don't think IL2 works with WMR directly. Otherwise why would it launch SteamVR?

About the built-in IPD adjustment, could the devs explain why reducing it (-%) moves left and right screens AWAY from each other, while increasing (+%) - towards? My IPD is 70, while G2 goes to, and reports, 68. I was trying to increase it in IL2 to reduce eye strain, but reducing it instead seems to work better! Not for world scale of course...
