Beebop Posted February 11, 2021 Posted February 11, 2021 I just tried to leave a reaction to a post but received a message that I had reached the limit to my reactions for the day. ❓❓❓ I did find a lot of things today to thank people for, upvote and like. According to my profile I have a good reputation around here so why am I limited in my reactions? Is somebody afraid I'll be able to artificially or improperly boost my reputation? I would think that a persons comments would say much more than a score on the side. And I know that moderators are on the lookout for those who are misusing/abusing the forums and when found take appropriate action. So why am I limited in my ability to react nicely and give my thanks to the many content and information contributors here?

I guess its to keep people from spamming reactions all over the place to farm positive reputations. People do it for online cred. I guess in some forums you need X reputation to open up certain abilities like making new threads and such. Not here though, but maybe the forum software is based on one like that so there is a built in limit. I run out of reactions often too lol.

JUST ONE ALLOWED REACTION A DAY? What the hell is going on? So I guess I will have to do the "post to thread and add a "verbal" reaction". Beebop Posted February 12, 2021 Author Posted February 12, 2021 Has the forum somehow changed? It looks subtly different. If it has changed maybe that chnage affected the ability to post reactions. I never had this problem until the last 24 hours.

There are a few people encountering bugs. For the reaction thing, same thing has happened to me before. I'm not sure why, but I think when you are out of reactions, I think the reaction is 'saved' on the post you tried and failed to react to, so as soon as you get more reactions, they get taken and put on those posts. Like having your wages garnished! But more fun.

And maybe at some point in the future I'll be prohibited from giving any kind of reaction? So everyone who has been a member and posted reactions has limitations to the number of reactions they can give? Doesn't seem right to me. Is there also a daily post limit? I'm waiting for that next. Reactions are a great way to quickly show your support, appreciation or just how you generally feel about a post without having to compose one. It's seems like a great idea. But if there are going to me limitations that don't require notification from a Moderator or Dev about your conduct then those should be clearly stated upon sign up. Or did I miss that?

No, you just get x-amount per day, you just likely haven't exceeded it before now. I was trying to explain that I think that when you were trying to give reactions yesterday when you were out, the forum awarded those reactions all at once when it renewed your numbers, which chewed into 'today's' numbers. Or maybe it works differently, like a rolling number per 24 hours, and you regain a certain number of reactions an hour. I really don't know. But there's always been a limit on reactions, unless the update changed things. I haven't noticed a difference. Could easily just be a forum bug with the new forum software. Give it a couple days, it will sort itself out.
